Would you still go

The child doesn't specifically have it, but school policy has the entire class do distance learning for a few days.

This goes for any gathering:

1) How many people will be there?
2) Do I know all the people?
2a) If I do know the people do I trust their own personal judgment when it comes to COVID/how much of their lifestyle puts them at COVID risk?
2b) If I don't know all the people do I trust the host to make good judgments about the people invited?
3) Has anyone been in a high-risk contact scenario? If so have they been appropriately tested?

In this case, I'm guessing your host fails at least question 3 and I would not go. Kids are the most likely to be asymptomatic, so the kid not seemingly having it is irrelevant unless he has been tested.
