I didn't realize topics purged so fast. I had stuff going on irl while grinding for Drayden, but it's only been a day and a half since I last posted. Anyway, on to Drayden.

I started with Burned the Emboar against his Druddigon. A couple of Hammer Arms took it out.
Next is Flygon, who Burned is weak to, so I brought out the weak Cat the Liepard that I caught a thousand years ago to take a hit. It worked, and Cat is dead. So I switched to Queenly the Jellicent. It used Crunch, but her Cursed Body kicked in and disabled it. Meanwhile I used Will-o-Wisp to burn it. Then a few Surfs took it out.
Finally, Haxorus. I wasn't comfortable keeping in Queenly since the Crunch dropped its defense. So I swapped it for Ruby the Gigalith. Luckily Haxorus spent all its time setting up Dragon Dance, so I was able to Rock Slide it to death.

Whew, I was scared of this battle, but I got through it with no major deaths. Now to do all that Team Plasma stuff.

well, this is interesting. I caught a Mantyke in Route 21, and since I caught a Remoraid back in Undella Bay, I was able to evolve it into Mantine. This guy in Humilau City wanted a Mantine for his Tangrowth. So I can use Tangles for the gym instead of grinding up one of my older Grass Pokemon.

I also found an Amoongus on Route 22, and since my old Foongus is dead, this is fair game. Caught it and named it Shooma.

As I suspected, Tangles was able to breeze through the gym trainers quite easily, with some help from Meanae, since I taught her Thunder Fang. I'll fight Marlon tomorrow.

I leveled up Tangles on all the Water trainers below the city, so now it's time for Marlon!

Started with Tangles. His Carracosta has Sturdy, so I used Ancientpower first, hoping for the omniboost. Didn't get it, but was still able to take out the turtle without a hassle.
I left in Tangles for Wailord, but he used Bounce right away. Didn't do a lot of damage despite being super effective. He healed, then used Amnesia, so it was annoying to finish him off, but it eventually happened.
Last is Jellicent, which I know from experience is annoying to deal with. But I managed to get a critical hit and took it out in two hits.

So I swept Marlon with Tangles. Good showing, but I'll probably store him now since I don't think he's particularly good against the upcoming Team Plasma battles.

aw man, Ruby died on the Plasma ship. Guess Tangles will be a permanent member for a while. Too bad he can't learn Leech Seed, tho.

The rest of the ship went fine. I'll probably do some grinding before finishing off Team Plasma, since the Kyurem and Ghetsis fights are already putting me of edge.

While I'll commend you for doing a nuzlocke, out leveling things kills a lot of the challenge. Especially in W2 which has a lot of awesome status effect moves that provide you consistent momentum changing options.

Maybe add in no healing in battle in future runs. <3

In the middle of grinding, I decided to go get my Giant Chasm encounter. I cheesed it with repels so I'd get an Excadrill (Hoedown). But I want to save her for the Elite Four, so she is not being added to the team yet.

I'll finish up Team Plasma tomorrow.

Manipulating their switches and PP stalling their worst moves with protect and the like can get you through the worst members of the team.

I remembered that Colress has a lot of electric Pokemon that Excadrill would be useful against, and I don't have a good counter to electric types as is, so I'll swap her in for the Colress fight only. time to train her up.

like I expected, Hoedown was able to handle most of Colress's Pokemon by herself. I say almost because I switched to Meanae against his Beheeyem because Hoedown had its Special Defense reduced. So back in the box she goes for now.

I do plan on doing the postgame areas, but I'm not sure yet if I'll keep up the Nuzlocke rules after beating the E4.

anyway, no more irl stuff in the way. time to finally fight Dennis. but first Kyurem. I sent out Queenly so I could burn it. it tried to use Slash for some reason, so the burn was free. from there, it was an easy battle.

I couldn't switch my party order before starting the Ghetsis battle, so I was forced to waste a turn switching to Meanae. she's immune to both Toxic and Psychic from Cofagrigus. a Hone Claws boosted Crunch took it out.

He sent out Seismitoad next, so I switched to Trish anticipating an Earthquake. she took it out with two Acrobatics. next came Eelektross. I went back to Meanae and almost killed it with a crit Crunch, but it wasn't enough. then he healed it and I had to use regular Crunches until Eelektross was done.

next he sent out his own Drapion. I switched to Trish again, anticipating an Earthquake. But he used X-Scissor instead, which was basically nothing. I used two Acrobatics and took out Drapion.

But then he sent out his dreaded Hydreigon. I switched to Burned, and avoided the Dragon Rush. But he crit with the next one and killed Burned. I switched to Tangles, and tried putting it to sleep while I hoped for an Ancientpower boost. It didn't happen, but I got a crit and took out Hydreigon.

Finally his Toxicroak. I switched back to Trish, who survived the Poison Jab and Sucker Punching easily and took it out with one Acrobatics.

Well, Ghetsis is done. but I lost my powerhouse of a starter. That's rough, man. I can use this Darumaka (Dorilla) I caught back on Route 4, since it will be able to learn a lot of the same moves. It'll take some time to train up, though.

I'd recommend it. It's a fun challenge to bring it to the post-game too (not the PWT of course though, that's challenging enough normally). Ouch losing your starter at the endgame is harsh. I'm lucky whenever I lose my starter it's always at the beginning lol.

well, I wanted to see if I could nab a Gliscor on Route 23. it's a very rare encounter in shaking grass, but since I already caught Audino and Emolga, I'm able to go for other shaking grass encounters on routes with grass. but I didn't find Gliscor, I found the other rare encounter for this route, Sawk. I caught it and named it Ryu, but I felt empty inside. at least I leveled up Dorilla a bit while finding Audinos.

Victory Road has a lot of possible encounters, most aren't super great, and I'm not sure what I want to try for yet.

I decided to catch Onix, because since I can evolve it, having another Steel type in Steelix would be very helpful for Iris. I caught it and named her Jasmine. I'll evolve her once I get through Victory Road.

dang, I forgot there was a battle with Mr. Peanutbutter at the end of Victory Road. his Boufallant was able to take out Tangles with a crit Megahorn. I guess it's fine, since I wasn't planning on using it for the E4 anyway.

I did some Speed EV training for Hoedown while I was at it. Almost ready for the E4.

time to start the E4! I'm going for Marshall first since I think he'll be the easiest.

started with Trish against his Throh. almost OHKO it with Acrobatics, but at least he used his one Full Restore and I was able to easily dispose of it afterwards.
I switched to Queenly afterwards expecting a revenge Stone Edge, but he Bulked Up instead. so I burned it. but Stone Edge still did a lot of damage, almost enough to OHKO. I managed to Ominous Wind it to death.
I kept in Queenly to burn Sawk, which neutered it pretty well. then I chipped away until it was gone.
also burned Mienshao. then her Cursed Body disabled Bounce, so I switched back to Trish because it was going to use U-turn. it did nothing as I predicted. then one more Acrobatics ended it.

one down, four to go.

I chickened out on Victory Road when I did one of these for Black 2. Avoided as many trainers as I possibly could. And I did actually get a Gliscor that beat the entire E4 almost single-handedly. I think the only other Pokemon that saw use was my Galvantula against Caitlin.

Going for Grimsly next.

Since Liepard can't do much against Hoedown, I sent her out first to get a few Swords Dances in to max my attack. then one Earthquake beat Liepard obviously.
but looks like my Speed EV training was in vain, because Krookodile outsped Hoedown and KOed it with Earthquake. for some reason I thought Dorilla might be able to outspeed it, but that was wrong, so Dorilla is also out. So I sent out Trish next and beat it with Acrobatics. I also beat Scrafty with one Acrobatics.
for Bisharp I subbed in Jasmine. it didn't do much damage, so I was able to take it out with a couple of Bulldozes.

I lost two Pokemon in this fight. not looking good.

Velma- I mean Shauntal is next.

I started with Meanae against Cofagrigus. I didn't bother setting up with Hone Claws since I figured she'll send Golurk out second. She burned Meanae, and I managed to get her down to red. but we both Full Restored and started trading blows again. Meanae took out the Cofagrigus.

Like I figured, she sent out Golurk next. Thus, I switched to Trish and Earthquake did nothing. I got a crit with Acrobatics and took out Golurk in one hit!

Next, she sent out Drifblim, which knows Thunderbolt. So I switched to Jasmine and Thunderbolt did nothing. I used the turn to heal Meanae, then used Stone Edge and Ice Fang to take out Drifblim.

Finally, Chandelure. I switched to Queenly expecting a Fire Blast, but it used Energy Ball instead. so I switched to Meanae again. I almost beat it with one Crunch, but it used Fire Blast to take out Meanae. Trish finished the job.

only three Pokemon left. I suspect this Nuzlocke will end in failure.

Caitlin time.

started with Jasmine against Musharna. it used Yawn, so to avoid being put to sleep, I switched in Trish then back to Jasmine. I kept doing this to avoid Dream Eater and chipping away in the meantime.

next is Reuniclus. Focus Miss did what it does best while I attacked. Since Jasmine has Sturdy, it can't be OHKOed by Focus Miss even if it did hit, so I healed up whenever it managed to hit. it soon out of PP for Focus Miss and used its other moves. but Jasmine didn't do enough damage to best it before it could use Recover, so I switched to Trish out of boredom. I got lucky, and Acrobatics beat it before Psychic could beat me.

for Sigilygh, I switched back to Jasmine, who made short work of it thanks to a crit. but when Gothitelle came out, it used Calm Mind twice, so it was able to hit through and KO Jasmine. I was able to beat her in the end thanks to Trish, but with two Pokemon left, no way I'm winning this. thanks for playing.

yep, Trish fell to Hydreigon, but Queenly managed to take out 4 Pokemon on her own, including Haxorus. But Archeops's Acrobatics was too much. oh well, this Nuzlocke was still an interesting experience.

in the end, it was a fun new way to play the game. I came to see some bosses as more difficult since I was also focused on keeping my Pokemon alive. I also got to use some Pokemon I've never used before. Even though I've been playing since Gen 1, I've never used a Koffing or Sandslash before.

I'll take a break for a few days, then I'll Nuzlocke Alpha Sapphire. I'll try Nuzlocking White 2 sometime in the future.

Ouch. That's a heartbreaking way to end the run so close to the end. I wanted to see it go to the post-game too but life is harsh. If you're up to it, I wouldn't be opposed to you trying with any remaining Pokemon but that would probably be tedious having to grind Pokemon you never used and it might go against the original spirit of the run. Might be best to try something else before maybe coming back.
