Gamestop isnt bad unless you are trying to sell to them. We just have to rely on idiots or those desperate for cash to keep their business going for us buy only people.

Yeah this is temporary, physical gaming is dying, and a lot people won't forget their complete shit practices, pushy sales associates, terrible used game trade in system and treatment of their employees. Their only real savior right now is Microsofts involvement, and even then, I don't see them sustaining into the future unless they start going in a different direction.

tbh I've had good conversations with my local gamestop people (Eastridge mall in San Jose). Like they weren't pushy and I was able to talk games with them.

Is it dying?

We all thought records died in the 80s and yet now companies make vinyls just to make them because people want them.

You can buy a vinyl of the FF7 remake ost.
This exists despite spotify and all that.

I have memories of Sundays after church and me and my family of aunts and uncles going to this all you can eat inside this mall and me begging my dad to let me and my little brother walk alone to the GameStop right across

When i got my Gameboy Color I'd ask the employee if I could try the game out first before buying it and they were more than happy to let me do so

Good times, shame that they got beat out and are basically a former shell of themselves.. it's not undeserved but still

Physical Gaming will never really die out. Otherwise people will see how authoritarian companies can be when you no longer own any of your games.

I don't think physical media will die out, it's just dropping to the point that it will be adjacent to digital. Like with records: there's a market for them, but there's other media besides them for different tastes.

It could've been any company that was getting the shit squeezed out of it with a stock floor of $4.00 a share. It just happened to be Gamestop. This picture is stupid and created by someone who doesn't understand what is going on.

We now have digital-only consoles, and Steam is basically the big center of PC gaming, when you used to be able to go into Gamestop and buy disc versions of PC games. It may not die out entirely, but it's absolutely plummeting.
