Imagine when you die, it's just like falling asleep. You are dreaming, sometimes it's a nightmare, and you are aware that you are dreaming. But you can never wake up. It goes on forever. Forever.

How would you feel about this plane of existence?

Yeah that's better than what actually happens.

Which is nothing. It's going to be like what it was like before you were born. That's weird and hard to comprehend.

I know what you mean. When I was young, I would try to comprehend the absence of the universe -- complete oblivion. Not sure why that was on my mind at a young age, but it was, and I suppose it's psychologically equivalent to trying to comprehend my own demise, but on a grander scale. Superficially one can say "yeah, the absence of the universe, okay, so there's nothing, duh, easy to understand." But I would seriously focus on it, close my eyes, and meditate on nothing. No space. No time. Just nothing. And sometimes I felt like I would get close, inching a bit toward understanding an unfathomable notion, something my mere mortal mind is incapable of comprehending -- but even that tiny, infinitesimal foray into grasping oblivion left me with such a profound sense of... I can't even really describe it. Philosophical terror, awe. It's an ineffable sensation.

I hear ya, I recently asked on r/nostupidquestions about "if the universe is always expanding, what is it expanding into?" The responses were pretty much what you said, a nothingness that the human mind literally can't comprehend.

Drives me nuts.

Living in my dreambrain forever is scary to think about. Don't you guys have a lot of scary dreams? You really want to spiral into your own subconscious without any reality to ground you ever again??

Like, after a long enough time of living in your subconscious without any real interactions I feel like your mind is just going to deteriorate and you'll lose your sanity. Your mental processes are really crippled during dreams. You can't think straight. And after long enough I feel like your dreams and mental state would deteriorate to the point where you live in this kind of reality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE6UqdoOtHo

And yeah I'd rather just stop existing than be trapped in that kind of mental state.

A scattered dream that's that's like a far off memory.

A far off memory that's like a scattered dream.

I want to line the pieces up.

Yours and mine.

You'd be stuck in mental solitary confinement where you can't ever do any of these ever again:

-Interact with another person (or animal)
-Read, see movies/tv, enjoy art and media
-travel
-learn anything new
-get any psychological treatment for the insanity you'd soon sink into in your eternal solitary confinement

I lucid dream and can read books, watch tv, feel hot/cold, pain, and it's literally a carbon copy of reality. And normally have full control, I'm like The One. Sounds good to me
I really don't think you'd have as good a dream state as you think.

Your dreams today: watching tv and doing normal stuff

your dreams after 5000 years of solitary stagnation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwUVeD277HM

your dreams after 9999999 quadrillion years of stagnation: ?????? probably you'd want it to end

No. It wouldn't be real, none of the people or fuzzies I had irl would be there. Nothing that actually made my life what it was. Just an illusion that goes on for eternity. Give me oblivion over that

I weirdly can understand nothing. It's somewhat relieving even. The concept of consciousness existing forever is just scary.
