Anyone have experience with these in a home kitchen? There are some pretty affordable ones (and some more expensive ones and some yet-nicer still ones that I definitely don't need). I've been kicking around getting one for a while, but am now in a position to actually be making these purchases.

We buy a lot of full hunks of meat and cook whole birds pretty often, which leaves us with lot of great leftovers. If we could cut them down into thinner slices, they'd have greater versatility for sandwiches.

But I don't usually go for uni-taskers and a deli slicer seems like a lot of counter/cabinet space for something I'll totally cut myself on.

It all depends on if you make a lot of sandwiches. If you plan on greatly increasing your sandwich making, probably worth it. Otherwise seems like a waste of money.

ive looked into myself and it wouldn't be worth it for us. im lucky, my butcher is rad and slices stuff for us all the time. also I'm a bit snobby with appliances like that so I know I would have spent way too much on it.

big cuts are cheaper than sliced so it might take awhile depending on how much you spend on the slicer.

Real men just buy a side of meat and slowly eat it like an apple over the course of a week. Slicing is for princesses

We likely would. We already make a lot of them, but this would be a a boon. The new technology would create the uptick, just like getting the blender drastically increased the number of smoothies I consumed.

Do you have any insights on good models?

My spouse is my princess. I oblige daily, with meat. ;)

There's a preferred deli I go to when I want to buy their lunch meats, but since I already have all these hunks so often from my turkeys and stuff, I'd likely cease to go there with the same frequency anymore (except for their pickled eggs, which are fantastic and not worth making on my own). They won't let us bring in a slab of meat for choppin', though. Health code blah blah, with COVID on top of it. It's a trade-off of home convenience and getting the most mouthfeel mileage out of my leftovers vs. support small business/community. And then weighing that convenience against the inconvenience of the lost space.

When you were looking, was there anything not too extravagant that caught your eye?
