I'm sure everyone knows at least one, you know, one of those people. Hell, some maybe even matured less, basically the only thing they do that's more "adult" is more drugs or talking more about sex to an inappropriate degree.

Does this happen to every generation or is it a newer thing? Like with some of the people I know, they just cast some of this vile shit into the social media void as if it's not out in plain sight. I guess they think no news is good news, cause most people aren't gonna want to engage with it and tell them how off-putting it is. It's easier to just ignore instead. And then with the unprecedented collective loneliness seems like they only end up stuck in the cycle with like-minded people who reinforce their negative behavior.

How the fuck do you even deal with those people? I generally try to avoid these people but it sucks when they want to be involved in your life. And I feel a little bit guilty cause maybe they just need some tough love from someone to tell them what they're doing sucks, but on the other hand it's not my job to be someone my age or older's dad.

As you get older you begin to realize there are very few actual adults and a bunch of people who are just shit head kids acting like adults.

If society collapsed you'd see a lot of people collapse into their most base of instincts

I just realized that some people might feel this way about me too, since after all I do "manchild" stuff like play a lot of video games and eat junky food (granted, not as bad as I used to). But I guess the type of person I'm talking about, it's more their general demeanor than their habits

Yeah. Well... he's matured, he's just 10-15 years behind the curve. At 45 he finally started acting vaguely like he's grown.

A friend of my mom has a son in his early 40s who got his first car at 40 (an 80s Honda accord) and proceeded to spend every cent on custom paint and putting rims and a spoiler and shit on it.

Now he thinks he's in fast and the furious driving a car that wouldn't be cool even when he was 16 and it wasn't a 30 year old beat up Honda.

Also apparently he put like 7 thousand into this car so far. So like he could just saved and got a decent car to start with.

People manage to create environments for themselves where their behavior isn't judged or can be excused.

Wait what? Do you mean you met him in a college class, and then met him again 11 years after graduating, or you both happened to be in the same college 11 years after graduating high school? Cause that seems like a pretty crazy coincidence

Yeah, that was basically my conclusion. And the more they do this kind of stuff the more it drives away people who might be able to break them out of it, cause it's really unappealing to normal people

Sounds familiar, except replace the modded car for Warhammer shit. That was my buddy's thing. He tried to excuse it because his older brother has a side gig painting professionally.

I don't even know who you are, but that's strangely hostile.

You can't be completely self-conscious in life, but having at least a modicum of self-awaraness and realizing how you might come off to other people is important too. Like most things there's a balance.
