I was always someone who will figure it out and has a good head but i havent, and I dont feel like I do. I feel like I missed the train, like Im past the point of getting my life going and now looking desperately for people who got a late start to convince myself it hasnt totally gone down the drain.

It's never too late. Comparing yourself to others is a good start to failure. Just focus on yourself and work on your own progress. Not every one figures their shit out at the same time and people all take different paths to success or somewhere close to it.

Also 24 is very fucking young, so you shouldn't worry that much.

You have a defeatist attitude. Getting your life sorted and started at 24 is much better than doing it at 34 or not at all. Get focused and make it happen.

I grew up in a broken home, we were hit hard by the recession and for half of my childhood I didnt know where my next meal would come from. When I was 19-20 I was preyed on and abused by much older women, and immediately following that entered an emotionally, physically, and sexually abusive relationship with someone my own age who now keeps me prisoner threatening me with a false rape charge. I tried so hard to get it together and I got raped, beaten, and screamed at.

Man, if you'll let me vent for a minute maybe something I say will help. I joined the Army out of high school so I could pay for college, served 4 years, was able to do online classes in my downtime during my service, earned an associates degree in computer graphic design and desktop publishing.

I did fuck all with it after my service and worked retail management for nearly 12 years. I felt like a failure, I fucked up. Got married and moved to GA then TN and finally someone saw my work and hired me on to make 60s styled music posters for their record label's live events. This has been my profession for the last 6 years, I make close to 90k a year and I love what I do. My house is paid off entirely, I live on 10 acres. I lost my brother to suicide and my dad to a brain tumor. All that said, things are okay. I'll be 40 in October. I didn't give up and settle and neither should you man. Keep driving forward and working hard. Even when it feels like there is a wall, there isn't an end.

Don't compare yourself to others. You will only feel despair by thinking you should be like other people your who you see as being more successful. Focus on improving your life. If you want a sense of purpose, you could join the the national. They would also pay for schooling if you wanted and provide other benefits. Another good option is to get an apprenticeship in a skilled trade. Besides that you should be saving money for important things like a house even if you just work a normal job, and there's no reason to feel bad about working a normal job. Most of them even have room to move up in if you want.
