You still see softcore/semi-official stuff with like Megami mag but generally speaking modern anime and anime studios are a lot less saucy than back in the day. Gainax was a special case even among its peers because Anno and the staff had grown up with the first waves of super fans/otaku and at the height of their popularity, they had less oversight than say Sunrise or Toei.
