I knew, and still know nothing about Scott Pilgrim outside of the movie. It was just so different you can't help but to love it. His friendship with his roommate is one of my favorite parts. That scene where he comes through the front door drunk, throws his keys at the wall and faceplants on the bed instantly gets me every time.

All I know about Harry Potter is from the Lego games.
I just did finally got around to watching the movies last year I think.

Just started listening to mass fainting.

Kinda a little bit like sonic youth so far but also not really at all the more I listen. Reminds me of someone though. Or maybe a mix of someone's.

There's far more depth to Wallace in the comics, like you see how he starts to dislike Scott as a roommate and slowly pushes him out because of how self absorbed Scott is, when he pretty much only roomed with Scott because he thought he was hot and didn't realize how much of a freeloader he was lol

Predicts the Future is more poppy/pop punky. Mass Teen Fainting is kind of that low fi Sonic Youth Sound you're talking about yeah. Both are great imo

Radiohead I was cool with until Kid A. Beck, I like a few select songs of but could never get into as a whole artist.

A lot of the 80s I don't really care for. The whole Hair/Glam Metal scene wasn't really my thing. At least we got the thrash bands in the 80s.

Yeah like Def Leppard annoys me now, idk why. If recycled song #3 by them comes on the radio I just change the channel at this point. I'm like Stan when he hit puberty and everything started sounding like shit. I fell off a lot of music when I grew older.

I'm a fan of the Stones, I hate their tongue logo and Jagger really isn't a great singer but i'm into a lot of the bands from that era. Love the Beatles, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, etc.

The stones have so much fucking music though. Their output for the first decade or so was ridiculous. I always feel like a lot of people don't realize how much music they actually put out and didn't hear most of it.

Kind of KISS also. I heard "Rock and Roll All Night" on the radio and by the end of the song I was thinking how many more times are they just gonna sing the same line? Seems like 50 by the end of it at least.

I like a ton of punk because I love a lot of the words behind it. Stuff that's more mindless left it's appeal with me.

The Beatles are real close to home for me, so they are forever gonna be kind of special. My mom loved them, my first, earliest memory of my life was laying in the crib listening to Octopuses Garden on the record player in my room. My name isn't Ringo, but I was named after one of them also. My entire life has been in their music, in the car going on family vacation they played on the cassette deck. I probably know the lyrics to over 100 songs. I think i've watched that Yesterday movie 20 times by now lol. I don't know if they were really good, or really good at making songs that people loved honestly.

And the Beatles are good but I've never understood why people think they're literally the best band ever. They wouldn't be in my personal top 50 or even 100 probly (not that that means anything).

I dont know if it was a world wide think in the late 90s but in my little high-school there was a thing for like a year where absolutely everyone was just suddenly in the Beatles nuts and I was confused by it.

I mean its good and it was probly groundbreaking but ill take the new pornographers any day.

And credit to the Beatles there's obviously a connection in terms of the Beatles sound and what peak tnp sounds like to some degree.
