How the heck aren't there more games where the primary mechanic is deck building. I'm telling you guys this is an undercapitalized market....

While I agree that there needs to be more good ones, there are almost 4 thousand.

Baten Kaitos had some card building. The cool thing about that game though was that cards would become stronger the more you used them and change into new cards.

I enjoy games that revolve around building a deck.

I actually enjoyed Kingdom Hearts on the GBA even though it has it's haters.

Yes I mean videogames! I'll make sure to play metal gear acid and such to see how they do things. I'm mostly familiar with the YGO games like Spirit Caller and Reverse of Arcadia

https://playingcards.io/

It's a virtual sandbox website that syncs the playing table with everyone in the same room.

Not sure if this helps any, but it might give you a few ideas. :)

There's a lot to think about. Not only do you need a non-trivial rule set that is fun to play, but you definitely need context for the gameplay, the overall world. Stuff like the YGO games have this especially easy because they have anime stories and art to work from. I'll definitely need to contract out music and publish-ready art when it comes to that.

It was like 4 years ago before Slay the Spire. Now there are hundreds of deck-builders on Steam of all different sub-genres.

consider this: they basically all look so similar to Hearthstone that any fan of this niche has their eyes instantly glaze over upon peaking the steam preview

Metal Gear AC!D gets a second rep from me and might be helpful just to gain perspective - I thoroughly enjoyed the series and rank the second one higher than MGSV tbh

I really got addicted to collecting cards in that game and Im not even that familiar with popular TCGs (just something I couldnt afford and then missed out on entirely lol)
