I am playing the legacy collection and have save assist on.
I would have thrown this shit out the window if i had to retry the whole stage everytime I died at a boss.

I am at this dumbass Harpuia boss for over half an hour now. I am dead with 4 hits and I have to watch this dumb conversation everytime I die.

Harpuia is definitely the first real test. It just takes practice. You need to avoid his hits and theres little room for error, though there is always a pattern. Use the Z-saber.

I dont have an ice chip. Just fire and lightning.

I got him down to 1 hit once.

Dodge and hit with Lvl2 charge attack is what I am doing.

How do you not have the ice chip? If youre using save assist you shouldnt have failed any missions. Its been too long since Ive played it so maybe Ive forgotten something but I remember having the ice chip for that fight.

I think if you try to play 1 for the don't use any cyber elves S rank it's the hardest. You can't get subtanks without using them. I think you can use some right at the last boss and not lose S-rank but it's been a while. I think all of the games are pretty easy if you don't care about the ranks and just want to beat them. Just use cyber elves.

2 and 3 are great...1 is rough....4 is just Megaman X with no X.

In 1 and 2. In 3 they lower rank but are mostly equipment outside of healing and the 3 that raise your rank, in 4 they are a better version of what thry had in 3

They're 1 time use. Some give permanent upgrades like HP Ups, Sub Tanks, and movement speed. Others give temporary buffs or healing.

Using them lowers your rank, but that isn't important if you're just playing casually and not trying to go for 100% (Which is very challenging even compared to the base game). Don't feel bad for using them if you're just interested in the game and story.

Also if you haven't already, I recommend mapping dash to a shoulder button and your sub-weapon to the other shoulder button. This game was designed for the GBA so the controls were optimized for fewer buttons.

Forever. It takes some time grinding for Energy Crystals. If you have the flame chip, you should be able to use the transerver to go back to the factory and farm them. Just don't die while you're there or else you'll lost them.

Also if you haven't yet leveled up your saber to max, you can grind that out against those pillars that regenerate by the disposal center. just keep hacking away.

Im glad 3 got rid of weapon levels...wish it kept forms instead of the chips though

I think this is why you are struggling. If you want the S rank, then yeah you don't have a choice. But you can always do a second playthrough if it's too frustrating now, especially if you haven't been going for S ranks. The permanent upgrade ones are really strong and the boost ones are great for hard areas. I went straight for S ranks in the other ones, but they are much easier because of the subtanks not being elves and in the case of 3 and 4 being able to equip some without penalty.

Thx. Ive already lvld up the shelter elf and from then on it was more enjoyable for me.

In the mission where you fight all the bosses again I beat most of them in 1 or 2 tries.

I do need a break before I start the 2nd game though.
