I'll actually be honest, when me and my wife plan on having our first child I plan on retiring from playing any competitive games (I play a lot of fighting games) because while I don't have a history of doing this, I'm afraid I might do something like this and be a bad role model. Taking care of a child is hard and emotionally taxing and playing a competitive game of any kind can have amplify that feeling. I saw it first hand with my friend when he yelled at his wife for losing 3 straight matches to me on SFV on his mic with a crying baby in the background. He never yelled like that before, but stress like that can get to someone.

Thanks for saying this, I think people are being too hard on zado. It took me a few instances of casually describing stuff that Id gone through, both in childhood and in relationships later as an adult, and seeing peoples reactions, before I realized that the way Id been treated was not normal.

I don't know about you, but I did indeed grow up in an enviroment where it was okay for the father to yell at his wife and kids to blow off steam after work and I sure as hell am not going to do that to my wife or kids. At best I'll let it out differently by punching a pillow or bitching about work to my friends or even wife, but I learned to have more self control about showing anger like this in front of children unlike my dad who now just realized what he did was wrong after these many years.

I'd say it's grounds to call child services and have him investigated, but I wouldn't go so far as saying he should have his child taken away from that alone. One bad outburst does not necessarily make someone an abusive parent.

Basically would need to know whether this is how he normally acts or if it was something out of the ordinary.

people give this kind of guys advice like work on yourself, bro. Start lifting weights and get swole, join an improv club to get over your shyness, learn about football so you can talk to the guys at the bar, do BJJ so you can stand for yourself. Oh and make more money.
