I'd say Hawk is definitely the runner up for going full douche and I'm not convinced that his 'redemption' isn't also about having to team up with people he hates I'm Cobra Kai.

But at least he seemed so show some remorse about breaking Demetri's arm. Tory demanded he do it and didn't regret it at all. She has a sick Mom, is on parole and still goes around breaking into Zoo's and homes and has no hesitation or regret.

It was kinda weird he was basically trying to rebreak Miguel's back. Like what the hell dude? Robby and Tory basically had their lives ruined over it and he only just joined Cobra Kai!

This is kind of a glaring issue for me. For someone who has a lot to lose, she makes really stupid decisions.

They've given every other character a reason for their issues (even Kreese had a sympathetic episode!) Kyler is just mean to be mean.

Nah. He's layered. He's 16 and has been abandoned by both his father figures multiple times.

I'd be pissed too.

It's without a doubt Hawk and Tori out of the main cast. But it's really Kyler; there's nothing good about him.

I don't think Kyler has really been around enough for him to even have a plot that shows that there's anything good about him. They did imply he has a shitty Dad.

But as a bully Hawk was far worse.

I say hawk because he has the most time of being annoying. He is being forced through redemption and it didn't feel authentic. Robby is obviously going to come to his senses at some point and ill be excited to see that play out.

I don't think Hawk is going to make it easy for people at Miyagi-Fang. I think he's still got a bit to go and I don't think he'll be fully redeemed yet.

I'm really interested to see what they do with Robby. He doesn't seem the kind to be a bully or want revenge. I think it was telling he wasn't there for the home invasion. I just don't see him lashing out in that way.

I agree with this.

1. Spurned his father several times, which is understandable but

2. he should know better than to spurn him for Kreese

and more importantly

3. spurned Daniel who has saved his ass several times and given him the best advice possible in a series of situations. he brought him into his home, fed him, let him move on his smoking daughter and and taught him everything he knows. then when he almost threw away his life, Daniel did the right thing by turning him in. the kid doesn't learn and

5. he kicked Miguel, an actual good character, over a wall and broke his spine after getting his ass kicked

6. the actor sucks, he just does that smile with the corner of his mouth every chance he gets and does that caveman stare. it's even worse than in Designated Survivor where he does the same thing.

he'd need a hell of a redemption arc to change this mess.

Yeah considering Robby only did a few months in Juvie for nearly crippling a kid (who he still wanted to fight again) he really shouldn't be that bitter towards Daniel. Would he rather spend his life on the run?

I understand the rest of it though. He doesn't give a shit about Kreese but he most certainly would team up with him to stick it to Johnny and Daniel. That was how he ended up under Daniel's wing to begin with. Just in that case Daniel was overall a good person.

I agree. I'm just not sure how they're going to spin Robby into a big villain either since it doesn't quite seem to fit. He'll definitely be the Cobra Kai finalist but I just don't see him being a bully like Hawk or a psycho like Tory so I'll be interested to see what they do with him.

Also who the hell threw that poor kid throw the window.

It will probably be robby and miguel in the finals again and Miguel will win again. Not exactly sure how it will play out.

Let me just say, I absolutely love the tone and setting of the show. I love all 3 of the original movies as well the the new karate kid (mostly because more Miyagi is only a good thing). The show has a lot of love and care placed into the details which really makes it stand out. The idea of the actors playing the same characters 35 years later is also really awesome. The first movie came out before I was born but it was one of my favorite movies as a kid.

Edit actually it might have been called next karate kid not new karate kid. The karate kid with Jaden Smith was fine I guess.

I'm only through episode 5 or so of season 3. So thoughts could change towards end of the season.

Kyler, Tori, Hawk, Robbie are worst with Kyler first, based on what we know so far.

Kyler is just straight up an asshole. He seems irredeemable. But we don't know his story yet.

Tori is angry and violent but at least has some people she cares for, truly. Of all the kids, she is probably the one most in need of Miyagi, not just Miyagi-do and is the closest to how Daniel was in the original, just taken a step further and with more competence.

Hawk is continuing to prove that he can't handle power or status again and again. He is still new to it though. Still has a chance.

Robbie we are supposed to believe has a good heart but through his life has learned to not trust anyone. He is just needs the realization that he can't just cut bait immediately, that trust is a leap of faith, etc., and forgiveness.

Kyler. Everyone else tends to have some kind of humanizing traits. Kyler has none. Dude is all the worst HS bullies rolled into one character.
