Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert was sued on Sunday after she reportedly blocked a former state representative on Twitter who demanded her removal from office.

Bri Buentello, a Democrat from Colorado, filed suit in Denver after she alleged the first-term Republican congresswoman blocked her account earlier in the month. Buentello purportedly called to recall Boebert in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that left five people dead, including one police officer.

Jeff Small, Boebert's chief of staff, told the Washington Examiner in a statement that the office will not be commenting on any pending litigation.
Boebert, a staunch Second Amendment activist and owner of a gun-themed restaurant in Rifle, Colorado, came under fire from dozens of officials in her home state who urged House authorities to begin an investigation into her conduct. Local authorities pointed to a Jan. 6 tweet from Boebert that they say exposed the whereabouts of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during the Capitol siege.

This actually interests me, because my state representative blocked me on twitter two years ago for asking what she was going to do for LGBT rights. If this is something this person is successful in, I might want to sue my representative too. I am still blocked by her on twitter, and for a Republican, you'd think she'd allow me to exercise my first amendment rights to free speech by asking about her view on LGBT rights.

the courts already ruled on it, if they conduct government business on that account, they can't block people since its a first amendment violation. Happened to someone on Facebook

All of this - trump's ban included - really highlights how weird it is that elected officials are relying on social media to communicate their objectives

Definitely does in my case. The account even has "Rep" in front of her name.

Indeed. But how then are companies able to censor and delete posts from those same government officials?

They push a button.

Anyway isn't it a hoot that when we say "that crazy QAnon lady that got elected to Congress", we have to specify which one?

Using twitter for "official government business" is a terrible idea anyway.

you're still on about the Trump thing, Trump had the POTUS and White House accounts, he was not censored. HIs posts that were actually related to his duty were not censored and deleted. Believe it or not, being a politician does not make you immune to terms of service, however being a politician does mean you are apart of the government, so you have to abide by the constitution
