Its the only FF game I have ZERO experience with in any capacity. But recent pools have seen it getting high votes or winning certain questions and whatnot. Also it has a guy with a gun, I like guns.

Ya play it it's good

I didn't like it. It's pretty much a precursor to how FFXIII's combat works. The plot also resolves around restoring a dictator to power, so I never liked it. I guess you're supposed to believe the dictator will be a benevolent one that cares for her people, but it's really not my thing.

Play any of the remastered versions on modern consoles, skip the original, it's trash.

Playing it now on Steam with a few mods, but I have like 500 hours in the original PS2 version.

Is there a way to play it and skip the entire story? Because that's a huge waste of time. The gambit system can be somewhat fun though.

i dont really get this comparison at all. it plays more like an MMO than anything else. it's basically ATB but characters auto-attack if you don't assign them an action. it also features a 'gambit' system that lets you basically program your team to eliminate a lot of that redundancy of "if anyone is <50% HP then heal" battle planning.

there is a LOT more to the story than that. either you didn't finish the game or you weren't paying close attention. the antagonist's motivations are fantastic, much more interesting than the typical "im evil because evil and i want to destroy everything because evil".

Ive been enjoying the license board and gambit system greatly.

You definitely should, and if you want a fun challenge, look up how to get the Zodiac Spear early. I did it, it was very fun. It definitely makes the game trivial, but it's not an easy challenge.
