"I didn't want to be the next George Floyd," Blake told ABC's Michael Strahan. "I didn't want to die."

Main takeaway from that whole situation. Let's not bullshit here and pretend any A, B, C, D, etc action scenario he would've taken not result in anything different than what actually happened.

So he deserved to be shot 7 times in the back because he... *checks notes*... could have sued them later.

You shoot to stop a threat. There is not a magic number of shots that stops a threat. Remember that woman in Florida that stabbed the cop? She was shot in the head and shot several other times and she was still trying to put up a fight.

yea man, courts have shown they totally take the citizens side on these things...in the moment its hard to think rationally. He saw a justice system that murdered a bunch of people and let their murderers go free and didn't want to be another statistic. it was fight or flight. Maybe we should start hold cops accountable if you don't want people to be afraid like that? Nah, that's too hard for this country and the people in it.

Nah TC's a racist who nearly exclusively posts articles and phrases things in a way that portray black people in a negative light.

Notice what he titled this topic vs what the actual title of the article is.

Let us start at the root of the issue maybe people should not commit criminal acts that put them in such a situation. Granted there have been innocent people that have been killed by police in situations thst should have never happened.

Cops lost their trust in the public. They have 0 credibility and have been killing civilians without penalty for years. It boiled over last year and Blake had zero trust in them to do their job, obviously.

Maybe if we held police accountable in all instances and not just ones that involve minority officers (like the guy who shot the white woman in Minnesota), maybe Blake wouldnt have felt like he needed the knife.

But no, continue to shift the blame from police and the system to the black male because reasons.

thats not the root of the issue. People will commit crime. we don't have control over that one. we do have control over accountability and how the public perceives cops. letting them get away free for their wrong doings, be it murder, or planting evidence, or anything, isn't helping. the root of the issue is people seeing cops murder innocent people and being afraid they'll be next. you don't stop that by telling them "don't do crimes!" because a lot of them weren't...you stop that by starting to hold cops accountable. its not rocket science.

They were there doing their job protecting the people in the house who had called the police on Jacob Blake. If someone is violently resisting arrest then violence will unfortunately have to be used against that person.

I will say Tamir Rice, Philando Castile and George Floyd were responded to abysmally. But the amount of people killed by police that are 100% innocent is not even a tenth of a percent. If someone is worried about being killed and their first idea is to resist and then pick up a knife when you have three cops pointing guns at you, your logic and thinking process is flawed.

It explains in the article. Combination of not thinking straight, and wanting to put the knife away in the car. He said he was going to lye down and submit after he got the knife in the car but the cops didn't wait

Can you use that excuse after already pulling out a knife and already fighting with officers?

thats like being in a car pursuit and promising you were eventually going to stop soon. Its not like forgetting something at home. Theres like multiple violent felony crimes happening lol

Because we've definitely never had any black person killed by police in the process of being arrested. For instance, knees on the neck suffocating them, a dog pile suffocating them, deaths related to having their flesh pressed directly against the hot summer pavement, etc.

Oh wait, yeah, those all have happened more than once.

So you're speaking in defense of that system which has 1/10th of a percent chance of perfectly innocent people getting killed by an officer?

Suppose that every time you breath out there was a 1/10th of a percent chance that your dick would explode in some sort of horrific gore fest scene. You'd agree that that's far too high for your own comfort, yes? Especially with how many times you have to breath in any given day.

Yeah. It might be statistically small, but the fact it's happening at all is fucking bad. That said, having your dick explode is still better than being killed by the police for doing literally nothing wrong.

That is a large leap in logic. People have the ability to control themselves hence the phrase "you need to learn better self control." That saying applies to 100% of everyone on planet Earth. When it comes to continued criminal activity there are two outcomes, death or prison. No one is drawing a pension from their life of crime. My mom is a perfect example, she chose to lead a life of drug use and it caused her death. If she would have exhibited better self control she might be alive today.
