Also a neighbors golden retriever attacked my moms cat one time... both needed to go to the vet and the cats leg was broken but he clawed that dogs face to ribbons.

It was a bad scene but it was amazing how much he hurt that dog given how bad he himself got hurt.

If a feral cat attacked you, I'd be concerned a lot about infection, but the damage they can cause, while painful, isn't significant unless they hit a few vital spots.

I think most of the danger of a cat comes from the fact that as a human you are doing your best not to hurt the cat back

like I have one kitty that can get kind of nasty in certain situations, but shes 8 lbs and could easily be overpowered. I just dont want to hurt her

Cats are too small to be lethally dangerous, but cat bites have a great chance of getting infected, and they'll claw you up like crazy, which hurts like hell.

I'm reasonably sure my buddies serval could tear of an ear and even bite off a finger if it really wanted to.

Thats not a domestic cat though.

I don't see how a house cat would be able to actually kill you, but they can definitely inflict injuries that will require you to get checked out.

I'd be way more scared of big dogs. Those can actually kill you rather easily.

When I was fairly young I decided it would be a fun idea to take my cat for a walk on a dirt road. It didn't go very well at first until I started jogging, and then he actually jogged alongside me no problem. Just when I was feeling good about it, I heard a car coming up the road. He was a housecat so I immediately gathered him into my arms and went well off the side of the road. The car freaked him out bad, and somehow he managed to lodge his back claws into my neck. I pulled him away and I could feel those claws tugging at and popping out of my neck. Such a nasty feeling. Luckily it wasn't too deep and somehow missed any vital areas, but that was the first and last time I ever took him for a walk.

this is why I dont trust cats. She wasnt even harassing the cat or anything like that, cats can snap like that for little reason and scar you for life or cost you an eye.

I dont see your average poodle or Maltese snapping and biting your nose off. Some even get scared off to train them (eg hitting the ground with a newspaper) and they still wont try something vicious like this

Yes, their claws are very sharp.

But never declaw your cat. It really screws them up, psychologically.

She was being annoying. Tail swishing like thay means the cat is annoyed. If you own a cat you should at least try learning their language. Cats generally doesn't like your face being in front of theirs. They think you would bite them. I'd say that cat already gave warning, she just doesn't get it

Hes strong as all hell. Lol. Hes like 20 some lbs of lean muscle basically. It was loose from him climbing it and jumping onto it and I guess he was high and had enough ... so he got a grip and went nuts on it.

It actually fell to the floor. I just put it back there for a pic. He seemed pissed I had the audacity to undo his quality renovation.

Well I've had a few cats in my life and none hurt me too bad. Rarely i got scratched by one but it only hurts a bit and is nothing serious. Some other people may had been more seriously scratched up by cats but still the difference between a cat and a dog is you can be killed or lose limbs by a dog attack, but you won't ever have that happen from a house pet cat

By the way also you can clip your cats nails and then there will be almost no chance of bejng scratched. Just make sure you use an actual pair of cat nail clippers and not human nail clippers. Since the cats nails will then be short they would not ever be able to grab your arms or hands to do damage if they are really upset

When I got my boy fixed the vet clipped his claws. He could still grab with em they just weren't sharp for a couple weeks.

He liked it cause he didn't have to go easy on my fragile human skin when we played. But there's no way he'd let someone cut his claws if he was conscious.
