My ranking the Trilogies:

I'm not a hipster who has to pretend that the Original Trilogy was some kind of second coming so I'm comfortable in saying that I preferred the Prequels.

And then there are those who say Hayden Christensen was incapable of good acting when young Mark Hamill was literally incapable of any kind of acting at all. All three Original Trilogy movies, they could have replaced Hamill with a literal robot (not a Star Wars one like 3PO) and it would have been the same.

I feel kinda bad for Hayden. I think he was a bad fit for Anakin, he came across more as a moody teen than a hero of the republic. Between that and being given very little to work with he was kind of doomed to fall.

Not to mention, I can imagine it's a pretty intense feeling having to play arguably the most iconic movie villain of all time in his origin story.

Watch all the star wars movies expect for Ep9 over the holidays. Phantom Menace is definitely better than people give it credit for but part of the problem was that it had a monumental expectations to meet.

Think about it. Its 15 years after the OT and this movie is one of the most anticipated movies in history.

The disappointment that people (including myself) experienced was largely because it didn't meet our expectations. But its still a good movie sans jar jar.

Hot Take. Anything with the initials JJ that is related to Stars Wars inevitably sucks.

Even if you took away the monumental expectations, it was still a bad movie on almost every level.

I never had a problem with Hayden. He may have been bogged with overly sappy dialogue in AOTC, but he was badass in ROTS.

I will admit his best scene was the silent across-the-city rumination scene with him and Padme.

Clone Wars Anakin was a much better character.
