Should market forces and private entities be in charge of what information is allowed to spread? Should Twitter and Facebook be in charge of what content they allow to be posted and what isnt? Should there be government regulation to it? To what extent should the market control what information spreads publicly?

There should definitely be regulations as to prevent monopolies in who controls information. While the banning of Trump and other related accounts was perfectly fair due to the events on the sixth, its certainly not impossible to use that as a springboard to censor non-extreme views if they were to so choose.

A lot of their self regulation is also an attempt to prevent government regulation, and that allowed the spread of massive conspiracies that led to a violent insurrection attempt.

Im not sure where I stand on this issue tbh but its hard for me to look at where we are and think yes this is all working out well.

I'm a huge fan of the free marketplace of ideas and information being available to all. However, the problem is that people are so quick to buy into crackpot conspiracy theories and misinformation campaigns.

If we were better as a species, we'd be rigorous in vetting out bad information and only letting facts spread. But that's not the way it shakes out so I just dont know
