Sports should be THE escape from how shitty the world is for everyone. Why should they be? Sports' history was filled with racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, war, and colonialism. It still is in many regards.

Kind of silly to be ok with the advertising but the teams and players can't have a voice or express themselves? "Your political or social message is only valid if you're cutting the broadcasting corporation a check to get it out there"

And id still be against any advertisement with a political message.

Players are more than welcome to express their political beliefs on their own Twitter.

That's true, everything is of the times of course

I think we are just extremely hyper aware of politics because it's been shoved in our faces as a source of contention at times. Now-a-days it's much, much harder to keep things separate because of the crazier times we live in.

Politics became very mainstream and very casual and I guess much simpler to break down as we've gone forward because it was necessary to do so so that everyone could understand

shit, we're even teaching that to kids now lol
