When I save the game at the shop or whatever when my inventory is full, and it's time to thin it.

When I start the game up, I'm ready to get into action. So when I start one up and I'm like "Oh, I have to do chores first," it makes me want to turn it off and play something else. I stayed stuck for MONTHS in a tavern in Baldur's Gate II for this reason once. And it's even worse with that game because you're managing an inventory for 6 people and the game doesn't have much QOL to make exchanging inventory between characters easier.

For example last night when I made this topic, I spent 30 minutes sorting and selling in New Vegas before moving on and doing something fun.

Too bad there weren't some kind of triggers you could turn on in games like Skyrim or other loot heavy games where you can make it so it automatically sells so-and-so when you talk to a merchant, or so-and-so automatically goes into a chest when you open it.

I can't wait to start a run of DOS2. I already own it and have played a little -- enough to remember that sorting your inventory has fewer QOL issues than Baldur's Gate. But I'm waiting until after I finish BG2 to start DOS2.

I would just install mods that give you limitless inventory in that case

Well for people not super used to playing those type of games, it's a more difficult learning curve. I've never played a isometric rpg like Divinity, so it's kicking my ass

I learned early on: Save Often; and don't stop until you've saved.

Im also the person that saves like 3 times in a row though. BG3 has reinforced ALL of this 100x though.

You're picking too much up then. Stop just grabbing everything. Especially in Divinity games.

All you need in RPGs is
:
* Weapons you like
* Ammo for said weapons
* Armour you like
* Heals/Buffs

Sell everything else. It shouldn't take you longer than like two minutes, wut.

You have to manage this stuff as you go, not let it get backed up and then waste your time

Yeah, but like in Baldur's Gate 2 for instance

I have like 10 different ammo types for my character who uses the crossbow. And a handful of items that haven't been identified yet. I'm not getting rid of them before I figure out their usefulness.

In Fallout, I'm carrying a set of legion armor besides my regular armor, just in case I need to disguise myself. I also have another outfit that gives me a Charisma boost, so I can get better buying/selling prices. And another that I keep on me because I like the outfit aesthetically.

Thing is, i want to eventually sell that stuff instead of dropping it on the ground.

It helps that in games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls, I generally have a weight/value ratio that i use to decide whether or not I will pick up "fluff" items. For example in Fallout, I don't pick up anything with a higher ratio than 1/10.
