It's mostly their fault for hiring dumb fucks. It's their job to identify if the employee is suitable for the position.

The majority companies HR doesn't make the decision to hire people. There's usually a hiring manager for each position.

Is that so? In my experience it's mostly HR's call.

But either way someone needs to be fucking accountable for hiring idiots.

I work in HR, and if I see more than a 2 month gap in someone's employment history, their resume goes directly into the trash.

This is going to sound weird, but HR is more likely to make the call not to hire someone than they are to actually do the hiring.

HR here literally is just ticking the boxes to make sure you won't start fighting with coworkers and can work around kids

We just hired someone who has no clue how to use a computer and then HR expects the IT department to train them. Not happening. I told HR we are NOT the training department, and we are not a computer training company LMAO.

I feel like this has to happen at way, way too many companies. "This job requires basic computer skills to even get off the ground, and some level of computer literacy is not only necessary to do the job but also for security of the information we deal with. Let's hire someone who doesn't know how to open a file from their computer, pick the directory while saving, or type in a web address."

I guess they wanted to hire someone who can routinely go through pressing links and shit that I guess even a monkey can do so they hired this lady because she was prolly okay with being paid shit to do it. We'll see how long she lasts.

In my experience, HR makes the call on which candidates are qualified, or not, but they don't make the final decision on who gets hired. Usually the hiring manager that does the actual interviews decides who to hire from the list of qualified candidates.

Either way though, you can't really hold HR, or the hiring manager(s), accountable for that. I worked in an office where people were leaving left and right (myself included). The problem was that the supervisor had reached "Helicopter Mom" levels of micromanagement and it was creating a stressful work environment. So, in that situation, people were going to leave regardless of how much vetting was done during the hiring process.

Right, the people who is causing the high turnover rate regardless if it's hiring the wrong people or the manager being bad, someone needs to be held accountable. Having a high turnover rate is an AWFUL reputation for any company to have and not to mention it's costly to find replacements all day.
