I think I'd go with Seek And Destroy. I got into Metallica when I was young, like 10, I don't listen to them much now. But The Thing That Should Not Be hits so hard that would be a top 5 for me too, they have a lot of good songs.

This is true, I really DID enjoy the snare sound of that album actually

Just didn't bother with much of it but the title track I think is fantastic all the way through

apparently its still there, its just SUPER buried in the mix

basically it came down to them wanting to turn it down lower and then just flat out deciding the world would benefit from hearing it even lower

Yeah it's barely audible. I heard it was some sort of tribute or in memory to Cliff Burton, but what kind of tribute is that? I never knew him, but I seriously doubt Cliff would have wanted them to make an album of theirs sound not as good on purpose. Thank goodnesss for the internet where people have remixed the album and boosted the bass though most boost it a little too much.

And damn I forgot Sanitarium in my list.
