It just seems odd to wait until after sonething happens to ban someone for inciting violence. Prevention is the best cure. Trump should've been banned long ago, like normal people would've, and Khamenei's tweets at the very least should be deleted. Inconsistency is going to get the internet killed if this shit keeps up.

Inconsistency and reactionary responses are human nature. People are flipping out and I'm like "eh a normal day on the Internet". I hope we see a purge of jackasses, but anyone who wants to kill the Internet over this is just as much the enemy.

I agree with Twitter banning Trump due to the stuff he tweeted, but I feel like they should be more consistent, and also ban other people posting hateful stuff, calls to violence, etc., whether they're the fascist leader of another country, or not.

If you're looking for consistency -- for people (well, Twitter users at least) to be held accountable to the same standard no matter who, what or where they are -- then it's going to be a struggle. Americans will care (rightly) when the man who's supposed to be their president incites a mob to attack and undermine the fundamental institutions of democracy in their own country, and those words actually have violent, in fact lethal consequences. They're going to care a whole lot less when someone in another country says something bad about a third country.

it was a pretty bad metaphor and that's not what i intended with it. the idea was that it was a thing you liked at first but then you found out about the people (or person) involved. i can see where i was over a line.

I expect a terms of use policy a company engages its users in to be consistently applied where possible, especially if involves a form of discrimination (and yes, removing a user for their behaviour especially IS discrimination, even if it's warranted), and if it is not it is worthy of criticism. What's difficult about that?

Like dude, nobody said Jack had to be ghandi lol. If they aren't trying to be consistent with their terms then the criticism is absolutely warranted.

At worst, those leaders should be banned as well. At best, there's a clear distinction between utilizing the platform to say heinous things vs using the platform to cause/put into motion heinous things.

Neither of those help Trump who should have been banned in 2013 or so when he started pushing Birtherism.
