I gave reasons on why that law is in place. And I agree with those reasons.
The prefrontal cortex is (significantly) less developed between a 15 year old and an 18 year old.
They factually, biologically, do not have the same decision making capabilities.

The growth rate is largely shown to slow after a certain point.

Honestly 17 yr old trying to meet with a 14 yr old sounds less bad than 18 yr old trying to meet a 15 yr old. It's also a weird idea that in 3 years, basically nobody will complain about this situation, when it takes about 7 years for a body to completely recycle, so one could argue that they're the same people.

Crime is something I think that the implication of the crime doesn't change over 3 years. Like you break the law 3 years later, it should still be breaking the law. I don't think the courts are literally out to get any 18 year olds that happen to date somebody younger.

That being said though I think usually courts are usually more forgiving to a 2 year gap vs a 3 year gap. Actually I just looked it up and it's even more clear cut. Courts don't give a shit if an 18 yr old dates a 15 yr old if there's no sex involved. However, on a state by state basis, some states won't convict via a Romeo and Juliet law, which I think was already mention in the topic.

Go back and reread.
In the state of Michigan (where this happened) the Romeo and Juliet laws do not apply to penetrative sex.
It was proven several times over. And at this point, I'm done arguing. Just gonna wipe this topic from my memory.
