Karl Jaspers is where to start

Go to Heidegger next

Hannah Arendt next

My winged definition is ti's philosophical frameworks and philosophies to understand the state of being and what it means "to be".

Also look into Ontology

I'm reading Husserl right now and he says a phenomenological reduction is when you remove the real/natural element of an intentional object and then only... the essential part of it remains?

This isnt very far off from Hegel who also says that perception changes into understanding, which I guess is what noema is? The immanent element of the object that gives a subjective dimension. If you see a wall for the first time, it has one meaning, but when you see the wall every day it has a different meaning... the two meanings together seem to be what he means by correlate

I will probably keep reading this for now

Yeah, not really worth it unless you are getting paid. It's a hobby with low returns...

I took Philosophy at uni and never understood phenomenology.

"Phenomenology, a philosophical movement originating in the 20th century, the primary objective of which is the direct investigation and description of phenomena as consciously experienced, without theories about their causal explanation and as free as possible from unexamined preconceptions and presuppositions."

So many words!

yeah doesn't help that most of them are translated. I feel like quite a bit is lost in translation leading to all the quotations like you had above. you just kinda geuss and assume you understand the intent, and if you ask around you'll probably get a lot of circle jerking bullshit interpretations lol

My (very layman and quite possibly incorrect) understanding is that it doesn't matter so much why or how we are here, only how to exist best given the circumstances. If I'm in the matrix or some kafkaesque circumstance or a corporate worker or a slave then my question is not why I'm here or how to characterize everything but how to exist and experience given my constraints.

I've actually tried to read the related book several times and finally found a section that makes a bit of sense, lol
