I'm just not sure. Like I'm happy with my Playstation already enough to the point where I don't know what I'd even do with a pc.

The main games that I would want to play in the highest FPS possible are already playable at a high framerate because they're remastered.

Capcom didn't put RE7 VR on PC so that fucking sucks. Im a VR gamer. And I thought you could essentially VR every game on PCVR but apparently that's tough to do? I don't know enough to speak on the subject.

Computers are fucking nice in general, but since our phones do everything, it's harder to know if I should get a PC in 2021 than it was even just a few years ago.

I think the main problem is that "next gen" doesn't have a lot of games yet. The games that I would ABSOLUTELY want to play on PC (the next Elder Scrolls since I'm absolutely sick of Skyrim) are games that have no release date and will likely not be out for years.

Same reason I'm not buying a PS5 right now.

gpus are in extreme shortage, prices are way inflated for pc parts and the trump admin tariffs for gpus and mobos made in china are about to kick in soon, which will put a 25% import tax on parts (which the consumer will prob have to eat some part of)

Whenever I have good cash coming in (the $1200 isn't all my money it's an unexpected bonus) I always look into getting a PC and for one reason or another it just doesn't seem like an optimal purchase at the time. Also because I love to write and you can write on ANY piece of crap PC.

But you also can't compete with a pc like tablets for example? Tablets seemed so amazing in 2010 and they're a joke now.

Phones absolutely dominate in casual use, there is no disputing that. But I want to buy a serious piece of hardware God damn it. And yet I can never justify doing it.

It just seems like something everyone should have.

I believe they're already announcing increases in MSRP for GPUs by significant amounts.

Some snobs will scoff but $1200 can get you a pretty boss pre-built PC.

I found a deal and spent around $900 on my PC and it can play literally all of my games on max settings.

If you have the money, it wouldn't hurt to shop around.

I got 1200 as an unexpected bonus. I have 3 grand right now but I only mention 1200 because I don't want to blow 3 grand on a computer since there are other aspects to life xD like food, games, clothes, shoes, etc

I'd say travel but covid. If covid wasn't a thing I'd probably just do my Japan trip right now lol

honestly your best options at this point would be to either buy a prebuilt and pay a little extra or wait until the spring/summer and see what pc part prices look like then

I'm not going to buy a 500 dollar pc but I remember I'd buy 500 dollar laptops as a teen (my parents) and I wonder what a typical 500 dollar laptop could run now.

Would it still struggle to run Skyrim on max settings? XD

PS4 level is now considered lower so I'm guessing ps4-level games on low settings probably

Wow. The last 500 dollar pc I bought (laptop) in 2011 couldn't run Oblivion in anything higher than low. It was an HP XD

I'll second this. I know most PC diehard fans prefer to build their own shit, but there are insane steals sometimes, you end up saving money AND the hassle of building it if you don't enjoy it for some reason.

A friend of mine got a pretty good PC for 950 bucks from Newegg, retail parts amounted to almost 1400 when he checked them individually on Amazon.
