Awwww, this guy just caitsith'd his way into the party. I don't want some religious nutter in my trio.

He has a good VA, though, so maybe there's some hope.

Petrus is very Alan Rickman-like, so that's an endearing quality. His magic isn't hitting that hard, and I'm not seeing him cast a ton of useful spells, but maybe I can fix one of those things, at least.

Pictured: local legate caught with primitive bong.

Aphra is bae.

I got Aphra's people out of the camp, but I murdered the gate guards since the only other way in (apparently) was sneaking through some crack in the wall. Funny how you need mid-level intuition to have the profound thought of "go through this opening".

...and then De Sardet was all "I'm a badass!" to this local chieftain. There really should be an option to mention how everyone attacked me first and all I wanted was to bring diplomacy to the nice peoplez.

Finished the long-ass Mev quest where she ran away multiple times and I had a whole rigamarole to find her, unlock gates, find seeds, etc. It culminated in all my hard work having a Bridge spy SNIPE her in an open field. The shot of him gunning her down (nonlethally, as it turns out later) should make any fan of westerns beam.

Of course, one of those huge-ass guardians showed up and I had to fight it. Figured it would've been seen earlier, but you knew as soon as Mev was hanging out with beasts and doing primal magic stuff, something was showing up. This one happened to be an elk/moose monster. At first I was keeping my buddies alive with healing/armor magic, but after dying a few times, I just focused on AP magic, Fury, and lightning-quick evasive maneuvers. For a laugh, the spy attacked the people who had just taken down the huge guardian. (I murdered him after he stated plainly he was going to assassinate me, lol.)

Petrus' first quest was to dig up dirt on the Mother Cardinal. The best part is he sought me out (for what gain?????) and was happy to help out the entire time. Maybe his morals are more flexible than previously thought. Turns out, she had installed a brothel for clients in the governor's basement, gambled frequently, and even gave payments to the arena fixer. Hopefully I can nail her to the wall over these crimes and not something Capone-ish, like tax evasion.

Oh yeah, and Kurt's second quest had us uncover the goings-on at the ghost camp. Those poor recruits were being brainwashed and were forced to beat the ones who stepped out of line (i.e. how Reiner died). I do feel bad about killing some of these greenhorns when my Charisma check failed, but oh well...I still got Rep+ with Kurt over the whole affair. I love how the people in charge run headlong at my entire team, then get decimated in seconds. Are we sure these people should be instructing others on military tactics?

Some inquisitors were trying to torture and convert prisoners to their wacky religion. A reversed "smoke our peace pipe, and do it peacefully...or we kill you!" moment. Of course, I had no trouble putting these clownshoes to my sword. One of the native leaders didn't like that I kept her out of the conflict, but the reward reputation made up for it, so oh well.

Some other tribe had dead remains on an altar in their room, and communed with a tree that lit up like it was drinking Gears of War juice.

These two youngsters are evolving into juggalos.

Another introduction from D.S., only he raised his voice. He also failed to persuade the bandits, too, which is always funny.

De Sardet: I'm the Legate!

Hey, I happen to like the hats. They range from tricornes and morions, to fugly tribal masks, to Jimi Hendrix hats. I don't even mind some of the armor (which I can't wearrrrrrrrrrrrrrr on this character), although there are some crappy doublets that bring Witcher 3's wear to mind. At least I can make mages look badass in this one, unlike Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I screwed over the Bridge Alliance in the very first area you're in, but since Aphra is bae, I might help them out a little more. Haven't had too many opportunities to really stick it to 'em, though -- I'm sure there's more later.

As it turns out, I maxed out all my magic abilities and lockpicking, so I maxed out his Science afterwards. I kinda wish I'd taken crafting instead, but this could be okay. Might have to check out that video posted earlier about the science bomber build or whatever.

Honestly this game kinda reinforced a lot of WRPG hate for me. The combat was uninspired, the writing felt too loose, and too many mechanics felt stifled, like needing way too much level to do simple shit etc. Also I hate that like % to succeed dialogue shit based on your stats. Like I'm having trouble leveling up to get those stats to begin with, and they just throw a bunch of non-consequential decision trees long before you can have the level to stably succeed dialogues. I mean even in the beginning section, they kinda make you already take sides before you get to know the many factions and the people in it. Not a fan of the lack of division of labor either. If your main guy can't do it, then you're screwed.

Kinda hate the world design too. I'm at ultra max settings, and it does look pretty nice sometimes but... it's just mostly grassy mountainous plains over and over lol. It's all invisible walls too so it shouldn't have been hard to inflate some of the more barebones parts of the map. Also so much emptiness. I don't mean like there's no place of interest, just that if I'm going to some off-beaten path, I'm expecting to find shit. If I beat some hard ass enemies, I expect something behind them. But tough enemies just drop shit you can sell for a few more gold at best, even though you probably spent as much trying to kill them lol.

Trying to do a gun/trap build but I keep running out of shit and having to just melee instead. Trying to level up science a bit later than I'm comfortable with, but there was no way to know early on that I needed to rush Science 2, even though I want to get lockpicking so I stop missing out on more than 50% of the chests and blacksmithing so I can do weapon slotting. I just hate how much limitations there are in a video game. I expect that shit out of real life, but not games. I'm also not doing another run of this stupid game to do a different build.

Admittedly I'm still like 8-9 hours in, but generally I expect a lot more in 8-9 hours. Gonna stick with it, but so far, I'm not a big fan.

Unless the game gets like mega ultra good soon, probably not gonna finish my playthrough. Don't care for any of the characters and hate the main character. Combat is also literally just attack, dodge, attack, dodge 90% of the time. Not really fun

Eh...

Don't look TC unlessyou want to know the answer

Sort of. There are "Real Consequences" including one or two of note but it's less about "making choices and surfing politics" and more just "Did you do the side quests?" the game punishes you if you just did the main story progression and nothing else.

On a side note does it have any sort of base building aspects as well as I love these :)

Also, Constantin has malachor, which wasn't a hard thing to guess after he was sick almost from the start of our arrival.

There are respawning chests in cities that give basic items, like alchemical stuff, potions, etc. I feel like this could MAYBE get players through some battles on their own, but having the Intuition perk -- which gives more items from caches/boxes -- is probably needed to really benefit from it. Things definitely seem hard early on, but being able to sew in skill-raising boosts into clothing probably helps overcome some of the trials. (I've certainly been benefiting from Vigor bonuses this way, just by equipping Craftsman gloves.)

Yeah, that incompetent dumbass inquisitor tried the "it's just a small handful of zealots!" excuse one too many times. It's glaringly stupid if you do a lot of those San-Matheus quests right in a row, haha. Luckily, Cornelia had enough of his malarkey and imprisoned him and all his conspirators. Interestingly, the guy who burned the nadaig in the public square is still walking around and I'm using him in Kurt's quest to frame a would-be coup causer.

True, but unlike most games that pull that, at least they're more than willing to do something about it and don't need to be beaten over the head with evidence. Like sure you need to prove accusations but they won't try to explain it away.

Speaking of stupid subordinates, I just did a mission where an Ordo Luminis was tracking a Naut girl and Petrus had to remind them they're doing exactly what got them in trouble with Mother Cardinal previously. Noticed another nice callback -- the Naut girl was in a cave I visited earlier and De Sardet mentioned he didn't have any good memories there, since it's where monsters ate a young couple. (Interestingly, their bodies were still there...no one collected 'em...)

And another bummer: just found out my dude's home island village is the same one where Ullan, the chief I helped earlier, betrayed that other clansman. At least my doneigad aunt is alive, though.

Can you believe that Egon was just some random lieutenant? I was expecting some big shot that tied in with the coup quests, but naw, just some upstart. Flushed him and his band of traitors out of the ranks, though, so at least there's that. Imagine struggling and dying to keep secrets from emerging that would implicate...a mere lieutenant. I did Aphra's quest to get rid of Asili, who was kidnapping Nauts and natives for lethal experimentation. Even helped put together a water-tight case by finding witnesses and mounds o' evidence. The Dishonored-faced executioner gave him the ol' chop-chop for his crimes. You gotta love someone doing their variant of the "I'm not the animal! You're all the animals!".

Also started doing the main quests again. Constantin and his healer (Catasach, in this case) went on a journey while I was gone and naturally encountered resistance. Catasach died and so did a bunch of troops, but the ruler -- who, by the way, was given malachor intentionally by Dr. Asili -- was captured by someone. I think my current plot is finding a way to see the betrayer/attacker's face by having Mev communicate with the dead...or something.

The hell? I found the high king's woman, Cera, and saved her from being tortured by Bridge Alliance goons. She then locked me in a cave and tries murdering me when I go back to her village, even though all I want to do is talk to the high king about my kidnapped cousin. (As it turns out, Vinbarr killed Catasach and has Constantin.) Don't really want to kill her due to the -3 Natives reputation it entails, but it might be the only way out, now that Mev did her magic corpse memory stuff.

Constantin looks like death and is growing twig horns. He also hasn't looked in a mirror yet (not a joke -- canon).

I kicked Derdre's ass when she tried taking the Jagged Crown of Skyrim from me.

En mil on frichtamen said Constantin is draining his power or something. Why do almighty beings need to talk in cryptic nonsense instead of just telling me how to fix this?
