It's merely the timeline getting dragged out that made everything seem disappointing

If you told me a year ago that the Democratic candidate would win the presidential election by several million votes, by a 306 - 232 EC margin, and Democrats would keep their House majority while winning the Senate, I would've seen that as pretty damn great.

If you told me a year ago Trump would get 11 million MORE votes than the first time, I'd think the country was beyond saving

The only reason they took control of the Senate is because of Trump's sheer incompetence and inability to just say he lost the election.

If he just said he lost but campaigned hard in Georgia before the runoffs, at the very least Perdue wins, possibly both.

I mean that's a rather reductive view on things. Ossoff and Warnock's campaigns both did tremendous work on fundraising and GOTV efforts, to say nothing of the national party and Stacey Abrams' organization putting in their fair share of labor

The results are extremely good. The Democrats got control of all 3 houses. While the lead in the House of Representatives shrunk a little, it's not going to affect anything long term.

The Senate results were pretty disappointing. Susan Collins just should not have been re-elected, and Cal Cunningham had his race in the bag until the fucking moron couldn't keep it in his pants

disagree, Trump suiciding his campaign from May to November was 95% of the reason Dems won this year. If Trump didn't flop the debates and treated covid denial on a similar level of his governors than he would've won re-election.

It also discounts any effect of the blatant fuckery Trump and Republicans did with the stimulus checks, along with a variety of other scummy actions by the party in the past months. I don't know why people are so obsessed with trying to pin things solely on Trump.

the margin of votes where it actually counts was actually half of what it was in 2016. After the last four years, more people voted for trump than last time, and he was closer to winning in 2020 than he was to losing in 2016.

that's not disappointing. that is a giant red flag that America is in mortal danger.

Nice of the Dems to take control right as most of Trump's tax blunders take effect, giving the GOP a wonderful target for why the economy doesn't recover as fast from the pandemic.
