Can't you just tell them to only correspond with you only via snail mail? I did that when I was having trouble and it worked. Maybe it's a Canada only thing though. Be sure to emphasize that you have limited minutes and that it's interfering with your job / job search and your attempts to pay them back houndoom

i read i can tell them im filing for bankrupcy and most will stop, but i guess technically unless its actually filed they can still do it.

i have an app that blocks the numbers so thats how i knew. it said "BLOCKED- Debt Collector"

happened with my with Synchrony. four calls a day, for a $120 payment that was about twenty days late. in the worst part of the US lockdowns.

can't fucking wait to never have anything to do with them again.

Funniest shit Ive ever seen was a debt collection agency trying to collect on a debt. That was already paid. From an estate with an executor who was a seriously scary fuck-you-I-will-destroy-you and-salt-the-earth kinda lawyer.

It was harassment, harassment, harassment. All hours of the night. Lawyer deployed.

Official categorical apology letters from the debt collection agency and the institution that had improperly employed their services.

Yeah, one of the strategies when thinking of filing bankruptcy is to go to your account settings for most debts and change your phone number to a Google phone number that goes straight to voicemail.

Granted, once you actually file bankruptcy, they all get a notice in the mail in about one to two weeks telling them they have to stop calling you, and at that point they all will or they can get in serious legal trouble.

The Google phone number method is helpful up until you file (and the waiting period until they receive their notices). It's also helpful for those attempting debt settlement.

If you are in the US there is a federal law that makes collections companies stop contacting you once you notify them in writing that you don't want to be contacted.

Find the company they work for, send them something in writing stating that you are demanding that they stop contacting you (be very direct without being obnoxious or insulting) and give it a little time and they will stop.

You can probably find template letters or a better how-to somewhere online.

nope. my job tried to help us keep our jobs, but around march they said fuck it its over.

started working again in august, but without my fiancee's income and the knowledge that my program could just shut down again, i gotta file for bankrupcty.

good news is that i have another job maybe lining up so thatll help. but again, running all sorts of budget scenarios, theres no scenario where we make it out of this without filing for BK
