Have you ever had your appendix removed?

Just had mine out pretty recently. It was my first surgery ever. I kinda expected appendicitis to be more painful. It was painful and uncomfortable but not excruciating. The most intense part of the whole experience was the morphine shot honestly. I cant believe how quick healthcare professionals are to try and give you opioids like that.

It shuts patients up so we can focus on other things, last thing I need is a nurse nagging me about pain as I try to get shit done

And yes, it really isn't that bad. A lot of people have a very, very poor tolerance for pain. Anyone that has ever, at any point in their life said, "I normally have a high pain tolerance, but..." has zero tolerance for pain fyi

Yeah I get that. The part of being a doctor that seems hardest to me is dealing with the fact that not every patient is going to make it easy for you, be grateful for what youre doing, etc.

It depends, mine just about burst and I didn't realize what was wrong until I raced my vehicle to the ER at 1:00 in the morning. I remember writhing in pain back and forth until they finally gave me that shot and then I was instantly good

Yes I had mine out almost 10 years ago now. I agree the pain wasn't that bad, I figured I just strained a muscle there or something. When it persisted over night I figured there was something wrong and went to the hospital

Surgery itself was cake, they performed a laparoscopic appendectomy which mean very few stitches, small scars, and super fast recovery time. I was up and walking and out of the hospital like 12 hours after the surgery. I got by on ibuprofen for the bit of pain I had when getting into and out of bed or sitting in a chair.
