I'd seen this album in my record collection before but since I already owned all the official Simon & Garfunkel albums on CD, I'd never really given it much thought and never actually played it. But last night I was looking for something to play and came across this album again and realized I didn't recognize any of the song titles.

I queued up the record and it was utterly unlike anything I'd ever heard from S&G. It was all light pop 50s rock & roll!

I did some research and apparently in 1968 the record company put together an album of their early music from 1957 back when they went under the name Tom and Jerry. The company got sued because they made it look like it was all new material when it was really just their very old stuff, so they ended up having to withdraw the album. So it's a fairly rare record and someone in my family must have bought it when it originally came out.

Have you ever discovered that something you or your family had owned for years was actually rare or had an unusual history?

I had a saber that was from the civil war. It was authenticated and everything, it was a family heirloom from our estranged grandfather.

I think my step dad fucking sold it to a pawn shop for crack money. I broke his nose when I found out he took it and sold it.
