The audio quality makes it a bit hard to tell, but:

have you considered recording the vocals and instrumental separately? That way you dont need to multitask

have you thought about singing a bit lower? I know theres the Jeff Buckley version, but you might find it easier.

All that said, I wouldnt know how tf to go about any of it, so youre already way ahead of me. You should definitely be proud of putting yourself out there and making something cool.

Nah Ive tried lower but I cant. I can hit the the baffled king composing halleluja parts quite well when I practice. The hardest part for me is hitting it right at the major lift I screw that up often. Also I find it hard to start the verse at times.

When I fix my pc Ill get some recording programs. But I also want to be able to play and sing, I get the rythm right once my singing needs less focus on.

Audacity is on PC, just let's you separate the tracks to do some cool trickery

Some bands record all together in the room, some do it track by track - some do a mix of both

Your actual voice sounds great for this song - if it was refined and trained to be in that range it'd sound wicked awesome tbh but it doesn't sound bad to me as it is.. maybe there's an app on your phone that records better?

The way you're strumming it is totally fine for the song tbh - the focus is on the vocals and the guitar is just there to accompany the voice and not be instrusive.. it's a good idea to practice all sorts of rhythm while singing though

You are singing acapella (unless you listen to the backtrack with headphones). Acapella is hard, Ive learned to sing better when I got a guitar, learning to try to find the notes.

Keep it up, you have potential, I was worse than that before I started to try to learn.

Besides its fun, doesnt have to be perfect

Hey that wasn't bad -- you got that flowy feel the song is known for near the end and you got a knack for picking out the notes

I think recording yourself and listening back will always feel that way lol - recording any instrument really

But I thought you guys did great tbh, this is a really beautiful song and it's a song where every bit of yourself adds to the character and identity of this song. I would much rather listen to honest takes of the song than 10/10 runs with ridiculous note runs.. it just doesn't make sense for a song like this to be spot on and every time I've heard it that way it just takes away from it >_>

I kknow this sounds silly but when I first hit the crecendo notes for the first time I got emotional lol. Cuz its such a beatiful part.
