State it as being your opinion, and give a reasonable explanation as to why you think that way. It also helps to include a negative about it.

The thing is, sometimes you do have opinions that are controversial, but stating them can be a challenge because people may think you're just being a troll or trying to rile people up.

Of course, some controversial views are flat out wrong, like "pedophilia is good" but others like "I don't care if a child wants to transition" aren't really wrong, but can be controversial.

I get what you're saying but both those opinions run into moderation issues. One gets modded straight off and anyone arguing against the second runs really tight against getting themselves modded.

Depends on the controversial opinion. For something that doesn't feel properly established, you could try listing citations. For something that's more in the realm of a pure opinion where there's no clear right or wrong, you could couch the opinion in a disclaimer or explain why you feel that way. For some opinions, there's probably no good way to state them because they're inherently controversial.

Given that society is to some measure arbitrary, a lot of opinions on how to run it can vary greatly and often depend on some very fundamental core beliefs. When people start from very different premises, they're going to wind up with very different -- albeit not always wrong -- conclusions. That said, even people with popular (or more specifically less controversial) opinions may try to state them provocatively or controversially just to get a rise out of people so it's often not a matter of the opinion.

Contraversial means people disagree. Normally when people disagree online and one side doesn't back down the other side will just call their opinion offensive and remove them from discussing it further. This only happens in one direction, though. I don't know how either side of the issue is baiting the other.

The best way is to lay out all the details of your opinion in an essay. Think of what some fat neckbeard or frothing SJW blogger would say "ackshully" or "bigot" at you about after rereading it and clarify with additional comments before they throw some stupidity at you. I learned to do that on CE back in the day when dunking on Hillary or Trump. I'd have to make clear I wasn't a fan of either, because you'd always get mouth-breathed at by some dumbass calling you a fan of the one you didn't insult in that particular post.

Just add a if you disagree you're sexist/racist or whatever at the end.
