To be fair, he was brought back in the EU/Legends content as well and in my opinion was given better character development compared to what we got in the movies. Not saying that to justify what was done in The Mandalorian but simply that the stuff we have seen within the Sequel Trilogy and The Mandalorian are not that new under the sun.

Wasn't impressed at all. The some of the first season was ok. By the second season, I was skipping large sections of the show because I didn't care about any of the characters. I thought having Boba in the show was super lame.

I tried giving Star Wars another chance, but it sucks. There are only three Star Wars movies, and I'm ok with that.

I think a lot of Star Wars fans just look for reasons to complain. I thought Episodes 7 and 9 were pretty good. 8 was meh at best

Its definitely more than just things to complain about. There's too much wrong with 8 and 9. 7 is the only decent one.

The Mandalorian is made by Star Wars fans, for Star Wars fans. The new trilogy is an SJW Trojan Horse.

It's so bitter-sweet with the Disney buyout, because I love Clone Wars/Rebels, The Mandalorian, and Rogue One... but the rest is a dumpster fire. I never delved into the expanded universe, but the fact it was erased because Kathleen Kennedy is a sack of diarrhea seems pretty inexcusable to me.

People who sing praises for TCW tend to forget that it erased almost a decade of Clone Wars lore and caused massive backlash within the fanbase. Most notably to this topic, TCW erased all previous Mandalorian lore and replaced it with a new version, which is what we have now and what the Mandalorian is using as a springboard.

While Disney pulled the trigger on "all EU is non canon", the process itself actually predates them. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it's a double standard.

The levels of canon is something that gets cited alot and imo tends to be misunderstood.

In practice, what it meant was lower levels of canon (such as books) were only canon if not contradicted by higher levels of canon (such as movies). This was mostly intended to offer a definitive ruling in the case of minor inconsistencies, but when something like TCW or The Force Unleashed is released, it means huge chunks of the canon, like multiple novel and comic series, become non canon over night.

If there were ever a Lucas sequel trilogy, it would never have respected the original EU. The levels of canon as they existed specifically allowed Lucas to invalidate as much of the canon as he liked.

I can understand and accept the movies and TV series overwriting the books and comics but did the video games also sit higher on the totem pole? Is that based on them being released by Lucasarts at the time?

I think it's just based on them having a larger audience. It didn't usually matter cause video games weren't normally doing anything wild with the story.

It's funny how much people whine about Disney ruining the EU. It was never really canon. Lucas pretty much just gave fans permission to pretend it was if they wanted to. Disney has done more to make EU stuff canon than Lucas ever did, or would.
