Board 8 > What's the deal with the new Higurashi thingy? (spoilers)

I wasn't paying much attention because I recently finished Higurashi on Steam and figured I didn't need to immediately go through it again, but it sounds like it's some sorta new thing tying into the other ones? Should I in fact be keeping up with it? (Have played through Umineko and the episode of Ciconia that's out, but not much extra stuff or rose gun triangles or whatever)

It's partly a remake and partly a sequel. Rika gets sent back into the time loop without knowing why. So far, the first 3 arcs have started out very similarly to the first 3 arcs of the Visual Novel but then they diverge drastically around the Watanagashi festival. Unfortunately the diverging portions tend to be rushed and confusing and replace the more interesting parts of each VN arc so far, so the anime's been a bit disappointing so far IMO. But the next arc looks to be brand new and we should get an answer arc for the new mysteries.

But its also really bad so far so I wouldn't worry about it.
