Hey, you might be right. Socializing healthcare could make life better for everyone. Should we do the same with dental care?

??? Is this a serious question?

I do find it funny when people back American healthcare when it's one of the most expensive of the healthcare systems on earth. Yet despite all that money it's not even the best or top 3 for that matter, sure if money is no object and you can afford to pay out of pocket for everything or get an extremely good healthcare plan it's pretty good. But the vast majority of the people can't walk into a hospital for a surgery, and write a $50k check like it's nothing.

Americans believe healthcare costs as much as they're charged

It's also rather amusing that in this country even if you do the right thing and get health insurance and pay for it for say 10-15 years. if you get any major thing like say cancer in most cases the health insurance company will drop your coverage, since they know for the next 2-3 years it will be a huge cost for them. What a great system even if you follow all the rule and try to play it fair they can just say "Nah, we aren't paying for this asshole now that he is very sick."

Ah. I see. You though "not a good look" meant something about appearances. That would be false. I was using it in another way. In the context I use it in, "Look" and "Appearance" are not synonymous. That's where your mistake was...
Interesting. Then how did you mean it? Typically when one says, "That's not a good look," it means whatever that person said or did has made them look dumb, petty, vindictive, or evil just to name a few. It tends to mean that most people don't or won't see you in a positive light.

dental care falls under healthcare, so yes.

you're trying to argue that, because it's not covered under cheap barebones insurance, that it's not under healthcare as a whole.

that's because you've been taught that from big insurance companies who try to do everything to get more money out of you, including making dental and vision completely separate things.

they aren't. dental, and vision for that matter, fall under healthcare as a whole.

if you have an impacted tooth, you don't go to a doctor, right? because that would be silly, right? no, you'd go to a dentist. ignoring the fact that the dentist...is also a doctor, ignoring the fact that you just had surgery on your mouth to fix your tooth.

as an aside, the definition of healthcare?

Health care, health-care, or healthcare is the maintenance or improvement of health via the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, or cure of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in people. Health care is delivered by health professionals and allied health fields. Physicians and physician associates are a part of these health professionals. Dentistry, pharmacy, midwifery, nursing, medicine, optometry, audiology, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training and other health professions are all part of health care.

oh shit

healthcare encompasses a hell of a lot of things, it's not just seeing general physicians, or surgeries., as it turns out.

My point is that there is a distinction made between health care and dental care (and eye care) by the system. A lot of insurance plans have health care for things like illness and disease but not for getting braces or impacted teeth fixed. I'm not saying I agree with it, or that I don't think it's stupid. That's just how it is. We may not make a distinction (as we shouldn't), but the system does.

And I'm not sure why you bothered bolding those words. Was that supposed to prove some sort of point?

and the system is in dire need of change, which is what AOC, among many many others, argue for.

socialized healthcare, like in multiple other countries, is actually far cheaper than the shit america has now.

Right, so you were talking about appearances, just not in the literal sense. Are you being obtuse on purpose, or are you just not a native English speaker? If it's the latter, then I understand and I won't demean you or blame you.

I agree. But unfortunately we must still play by the system's rules, which is why I make the distinction.

The whole vision insurance thing is crazy. Some eye stuff is covered under regular medical insurance, and some requires special vision insurance. Ophthalmologists are usually covered under medical, optometrists are not. Both professions require at least 8 years of study and a doctorate degree, the only difference being that an ophthalmologist has a general medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with additional eye-specific training while an optometrist has a specialized degree, Doctor of Optometry (O.D.).

I know now. But at the time, I thought otherwise. And I dont really agree that much, tbh... It affects the way people talk to you. And people talking to you differently on a message board becomes a big deal since thats literally all we do here...

Yes, but there's much more to life (my life, anyways) than talking to randoms whose real names you don't even know on a single board on a site. This is far from the only board on the site that I post in. And even if it were, I don't live on (or for) GameFAQs or any other online forum for that matter. Why should I care about a handful of people talking to me differently? That's childish at best.

So if we think Socialism is the answer in general, then we should probably talk about Venezuela, since that country is certainly a Socialist country. What went wrong there? Did something go wrong in the first place?

That's not totally true. Some of us do know each others real names. And talk on places other than this board. Some people have even met each other. And some of us talk on more than one board together, as well. I've seen many of these posters on other boards. And even if I don't spend all my time here, I do come here when I bored. So, it's betters to have a fun place to come when there's nothing else to do... Especially since I know them much better than say, a bunch of people on Reddit. Going to a Reddit post sucks because it's almost always new people unless you stick to certain subreddits. When this board is normally filled with the same people yo normally talk to. So, even if you don't care about it, others might. I mean, since you're not a regular, it shouldn't matter to you. But it might to others who come here to talk regularly...

I don't know anything about Venezuela... Care to enlighten me?

Usually when something goes wrong with a country in the modern world, on the political level, it's due to interference from the US or Russia. So keep that in mind.
