Been noticing this trend when I want to see what a shiny version looks like only to be slightly disappointed that it's just a greenish hue

They just auto shift one palette over from whatever was coded or something. Unless theyre a cool Pokmon like charizard who gets special attention.

Charizard is hella cool, but what's weird is that Pikachu, the Pokmon's mascot, is literally just a different shade of yellow for its shiny version. So bizarre

Shiny Dragonite is green and awesome. You even get a free one in White 2. Meanwhile in Black 2, you get Shiny Garbagechomp, which is completely indistinguishable from the regular version unless you're looking at both of them side by side in good lighting.

I'm sorry, but 10,000 of ANYTHING on a PS2 would absolutely destroy your framerate. It'd be like playing chess through the mail. ~johnboy1

I think it has to do with the GBC's screen. Maybe green was the default hue to make them look actually shiny on those old ass devices.

Later when they moved to other hardware, the color schemes remained? I don't know, just speculating here.

Afaik up until gens 5 or 6, correct me if i'm wrong, the shiny palletes were mostly randomized until later gens which is why some pokemon like Garchomp have a almost identical shiny. Shiny Charizard wasn't even originally black and red . It was a really dark purple with green wings in G/S/C but was made black and red in 3rd gen.

Years ago I went through every single Pokmon on the time and took the shiny and put it on one of 3 categories

Good
Trash
Barely Changed

I cant recall if I ever ended up posting it. But 70-80% of all Pokmon are in the latter two categories

Yeah, stuff like shiny Snorlax is such a ripoff. You only notice the difference if you see a normal and shiny side-by-side.

I used to think shinies were gold because I never played past gen 1.

For those new gens of pokemon you ever wonder if they design their shiny in tandem with the actual pokemon design? How do they decide which will be the shiny color and which will be the normal color
