Recently bought some meat in bulk and put some in the freezer for obvious reasons. Now I took out about 4 pork chops to thaw. How long does it take to thaw them from a frozen state? And are there safe methods to accelerate it?

I let them soak in hot water until they get floppy. There may be a better way but this works fine for me

Depending on the meat it can take a few hours. Or you can just put it in the fridge over night and it should be good by dinner time. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

So, when you say soak in water, do you mean put the meat in plastic bags? And fill the sink with water?

Put meat in sink, turn cold tap on over freezer bag and let it run over the meat until defrosted. Leaving it in still water will still take a while

Using hot water to thaw meat quickly can create bacteria. And as someone else said it can cook the outside prematurely. But if I'm cooking it anyway doesn't that kill the bacteria?
