Recently bought some meat in bulk and put some in the freezer for obvious reasons. Now I took out about 4 pork chops to thaw. How long does it take to thaw them from a frozen state? And are there safe methods to accelerate it?

I let them soak in hot water until they get floppy. There may be a better way but this works fine for me

Place them in cool water. Should take about an hour to an hour and a half.

This is how you get sick lol use cold water and change it out every 20-30 minutes. Depending on the meat it can take a few hours.

Or you can just put it in the fridge over night and it should be good by dinner time.

So, when you say soak in water, do you mean put the meat in plastic bags? And fill the sink with water?

Like, put them in bags and put them under running water? Or just the meat?

Put meat in sink, turn cold tap on over freezer bag and let it run over the meat until defrosted. Leaving it in still water will still take a while

Using hot water to thaw meat quickly can create bacteria. And as someone else said it can cook the outside prematurely.

But if I'm cooking it anyway doesn't that kill the bacteria?

And I always thoroughly check to see if my meat is cooked. Helps that I like my food a bit overcooked and dry

Huh. I've been doing this for years and never had any problems. Still gonna switch to cold water though
