Because most of the movie is in Korean. Except the director is American, the story is also a very American story.

Inglorious Basterds was nominated for best picture (not best foreign language film) and only 30% of the movie was in English. Crazy how shit like that happens!

This is for Golden Globes btw not the Oscars. Would be more hypocritical of the Oscars cuz Parasite was nominated in 2019. It was not nominated for a BP Golden Globe in 2019 which was also another big issue.

If a movie has to be in a foreign language category if it's more than half non-English then Inglorious Basterds should have been in the foreign language category, if that's not a strict requirement then a movie made in the US by an American should absolutely be in the general best picture categories. It's clearly inconsistent and suggests a bias somewhere in the decision process.

Hamilton was a recorded stage performance and not what would traditionally be considered a film eligible for these award shows.
