I'm still a little nervous about this being disappointing, but the original is one of my all time favorites. So here's to hoping.

Based on what little I've heard so far, it sounds like it's just as good as the original. Played through the first world. Eh....it's not BAD per se, but I can really tell the autorunning is going to limit its appeal for me. (I didn't realize you weren't even able to turn around without jumping off a wall) As a result of this decision, there's a lot less exploration involved with level progression, and it feels more like a puzzle platformer when it leans so much into trial and error. (I couldn't complete the second level because I couldn't "solve" a certain segment)
I will say, it's nice that they've included checkpoints, because the levels are a lot longer. The level design still feels strong, and what control you DO have feels every bit as tight as before. And on a more surface level, the art style is surprisingly nice! It's come a long way since it was first shown off. I actually kind of like the look of it in its current state, and the cutscenes look great. Though I can't say the same about the music...with that it looks like they went with the same sort of direction as the Ridiculon version instead of the original Danny Baranowsky soundtrack, which is a real shame. Baranowsky's music was SO much better. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm liking it a lot so far. It's p tough still and while the autorunning is... different, I'm still digging it. And it helps we got another pure platformer a few years ago in The End is Nigh tbh.

Think it was a bad choice to frame it as a sequel. Makes sense commercially, but it's not what I think of when it comes to meaty boys.
