Current Events > I feel like sharing... My parents are moving closer to me and I'm glad

Currently, my parents live just over an hour away. Visiting them is not inconvenient and their current house is awesome and used to belong to my grandparents (my mother inherited it). I do really enjoy going there. It's in the middle of nowhere and is very nature oriented (in fact, bordering land was donated by my grandparents and is protected). I will miss it, but it will be nice if they moved closer... which is a conversation that we have had (which they brought up, not me) many times since.

As of today, they have closed on a property much closer to my area and also close to more family in this area. It will be nice to have them closer, and I'm gonna be helping with some preliminary moving tomorrow along with my brother who lives closer to their current location.

Both my mother and stepfather are 60something boomers so I want to be able to help as much as I can. I 'm glad I can help tomorrow.

And for the future, my cousin is planning to buy their current house (he is the younger son of my aunt who currently lives across the street) so it's awesome that their (current) house will remain in the family for at least a little while longer. It was the familial house for longer than I've been alive and I've always wanted it to stay in the family so the fact that a cousin is buying it as my parents leave is kinda a best case scenario. I'm just really happy about this overall and I wanted to share since official news came today.
