Current Events > I bought a PS3 recently, what're some must plays, notable games, or hidden gems?

I didn't play much of this generation at all on my 360, so feel free to go nuts. Not necessarily only looking for the best of the best either, which is why I threw in "notable" games in the title. In general, if something came to PS4 later, I'd prefer that version, but feel free to mention it anyway! I'm into most genres and I plan to look into any suggestions anyway.

FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns are both much better games than the first in the trilogy so I'd recommend playing those even if you're not that into the first one

even though it's not on Smash Bros' level, I enjoyed PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

my only real issue with it was how you could only beat your opponents using specials.

Keep in mind that Sony recently disabled the ability to purchase PS3 games through their site. You'll need to use the god awful PS3 PSN interface.

Ohhh I do remember that. Luckily I think I will be on the lookout for more physical copies, but I know there are some good digital only like Tokyo Jungle. Plus I'm sure there are some that are much more expensive physically, at least in regard to PS1 and PS2 classics.

you already have the MGS games, but the MGS Legacy Collection is pretty cool, IMO.

it's basically the same thing, but you have all of the games in the same package.

and idk if you can still get it, but it used to also come with an art book.

also, I'm not sure if you're interested in it, but Metal Gear Solid V works well on the PS3.

...Metal Gear Rising is also a great action game.

Dynasty Warriors 8 with the Xtreme Legends expansion. That being said, there's a complete edition available on PS4 and Steam, so you should probably get that instead. It's worth it either way though, DW8 is one of my favorite power fantasy games.

Eternal Sonata. Despite not really doing enough interesting stuff with the whole taking place in Chopin's dying dream plot hook, I still think it's worth playing for the visuals, soundtrack and gameplay.

True!! I also found that the store doesn't actually list all of the ones available when you go to a "show all" section, so feel free there too!
