She was upset that she has to use the ticketing system (which our help desk runs, Im not part of the help desk)
and she was very upset she couldnt just walk up to my desk and tell me to help her anymore. Thats shes not a computer person and submitting a ticket is too hard

when I told her to turn around, walk outside and read the sign (which says that my office is not the help desk and to get lost), she asked to speak to my boss

jokes on her. Ive already sent an email to her managers manager, and the head of HR

Im in Australia so not sure how relevant this is for you. I started at high 50 thousands, and within a year I was up to around $70k a year. Today Im pretty close to 100k a year.

my job responsibilities when I first started where pretty much just help desk. But with the chance to learn from the network engineer and sysadmin and work alongside them on their projects. Once I got a bit more experience I started doing more sysadmin stuff and got promoted to sysadmin proper.

Part of the job is putting uppity people like this in their place. At least I feel it is.

I haven't done system admin stuff for a while but I've done helpdesk for years.

I get the feeling some people think they can push IT nerds around. I don't take that shit.

i guess a bit. I was lucky enough to have a mentor-like person who I could just turn around and for help from. I had just graduated uni so I could code, design and implement databases, web develop etc but that didnt prepare me just for basic help desk work like troubleshooting our company apps, walking dummies through instructions over the phone etc. if I didnt have a mentor it would have been a lot tougher

Ive never seen EOD, I almost never see CoB either (although I do sometimes).
its usually just the actual phrase like can this be done today or something like that.

I too am one. Though my job is more focused on managing our virtual infrastructure and storage at our data center. I do have around 60 Windows servers I manage.

Now my last job was straight up traditional sysadmin.
