Personally, I'd never pay more than $800/mo for a studio. I realize that isn't realistic in some cities, and well, I've accepted that I'm simply priced out of those.

Unlikely you'll be able to live in the actual "downtown" in a studio for under $1k in most large cities

(assuming you want to be in a relatively safe and quiet neighborhood)
