Bethesda didn't release a statement saying they'd give refunds while CDPR did. I'm sure if CDPR never released that statement no one would be getting a refund lol

It's weird, the FO76 launch was pretty offensive given all the missteps with the super $200 edition items being screwed up, and the rum fiasco, their apology consisting of some premium currency you could get in like ten minutes of gametime, and then they rolled out that subscription service rofl.

Fallout 76 had an empty world devoid of any meaningful narrative outside of the bugs, at least Cybepunk offers something of mediocre substance without the bugs

Fallout 76 was still giving the gift of hilarious fuckups a year after its release. We'll see where Cyberpunk is this time next year.

It's true. CDPR was less shitty about it which benefited consumers.

CDPR was less shitty about it? They walked back their refund statement like a day later at a shareholder meeting -_-

I'd say fallout 4 was a worse launch but even then it ran on consoles

I think the difference is most people didn't expect Fallout 76 to be good. It was not a highly anticipated game

It wasn't just the bugs that were the issue, it was the lack of content and focus on what it even was.

I started playing this like 2 months ago, and I honestly think I would have enjoyed the empty world at launch in regards to human PCs. I mean, I am having fun but having human settlers makes it feel more civilized and less wild west.

They weren't less shitty about it, they were more shitty about it.

They offered refunds but didn't clear it with Sony or MS first, tossing the responsibility ball over to them while earning goodwill for themselves that they didn't deserve. Guessing this played a large part in Sony going "LMAO go fuck yourself" to CDPR and pulling the game.

This is on top of them admitting in their investors meeting that they deliberately withheld footage of the PS4/XBO versions due to how bad they were, and that Sony and MS were very concerned about the state of the game before release and that CDPR outright lied to them saying a day one patch would fix the issues so they could pass cert. They're not just burning their goodwill with fans, they're burning their relationships with Sony and MS.

Never seen a dev fall from grace this hard and fast.

That refund statement was probably one of the dumbest moves they could have done. Not only did it fail at earning back trust because they didn't clear it with the platforms selling their product but being charged back for the game could sink the company. Larger companies have gotten fucked hard in similar situations.

They should have said they are working on a patch to optimize it for consoles or something. I agree the refund thing was stupid

People say Cyberpunk's open world is "mediocre".

Mediocre compared to what? I can't think of any other open world game that actually "felt alive" in the way people are complaining about how cyberpunk isnt.

Perhaps gamers in general have lost patience with industry releasing incomplete games. Also this is quite a unique and stressful year with lots of reasons for public outrage

Mediocre compared to most other open world games.

The world doesn't feel real. It feels like you're playing a video game. It's not immersive.

Most? BIg doubt.

Could you name 20 open world games that have far superior "worlds" to explore? It should be easy since you say "most" of them are better.

Twenty?? That's quite a tall order. Maybe "most" is also hyperbolic but what I mean is that it's a pretty average open world at the end of the day.
