You realize this was a headquarters and not a warehouse, right? A significant number of those jobs would have been white collar, and would have included managerial and executive positions.

I think when people hear Amazon they automatically assume that it's about a warehouse that pays people minimum wage, but this wasn't that type of building.

as part of the deal they were also going to invest in infrastructure in the area, including building schools to specifically train up for new tech jobs.

Amazon will also build a new school with as many as 600 seats on its campus, along with a tech startup incubator.

Social programs that don't drop off a cliff just because you're starting to get ahead, is actually a good thing.
Homelessness seems like a semantics stretch here. Are there Amazon workers who sleep in a car or cardboard box behind the warehouse, or is this workers sleeping on someone's couch while saving up for a deposit or down payment?

Again, that's not a counter argument. Why should Amazon pay their employees more? Because they made almost 12 billion in net profit last year. They could have paid their employees a combined 10 BILLION DOLLARS more and still had a couple of billion to split between the people at the top. That's why.

Either through raises, promotions, another job, a 2nd job or side hustles even.

If it's not a business' job to pay people a livable wage then can we at least stop with the idea that "jobs" are some meaningful measure of economic success for real people and not just the 1%? I know that people will say that a business is there to make money but you can still make a profit and treat your workers fairly.
