The Americas are too big and contain too many countries requiring the need for more specific demonyms. I've never met a person from an Asian country that when asked where they are from simply said "Asia." They always state their specific country. The same goes for Europeans. Some Africans do it, but only for simplicity sake, since so many people are ignorant of specific African countries.
