Got it from this site: https://www.news10.com/news/pfizer-vs-moderna-covid-19-vaccine-whats-the-difference/ If a single dose of these vaccines are that effective (80+%) then can't we just give double the people one dose instead of vaccinating half the people by giving them two doses of the limited vaccine? --- ... Imagine if there was potentially an unforeseen problem with the vaccine and giving it to health workers first knocks them all out of commission when they're needed most.

If a single dose of these vaccines are that effective (80+%) 80% is REALLY low for something this important, dude. Most of the general public will probably get the johnson and johnson single dose and maybe the astra zeneca but I see that being distributed more elsewhere.

If a single dose of these vaccines are that effective (80+%) then can't we just give double the people one dose instead of vaccinating half the people by giving them two doses of the limited vaccine?first off, at least one of the vaccines has ~50% effectiveness with just one dosage. its not well researched so its a bad idea to rely on just one shot. second, even with a vaccine, people vaccinated can act as short term carriers of the virus. with a single dosage of the vaccine, even if you've got enough acquired immunity to fight off the worst effects, it will take longer to happen which means you're infectious for longer. Tyranthraxus posted... The first dose isn't really the vaccine at all it's the mRNA protein. After your body figures out wtf to do with it, you go back for the immune booster that gives you immunity.so the mRNA protein just acts as the carrier molecule for the antigen that they want your system to make antibodies for. muscle cells absorb that mRNA, and for a short time produce that antigen and present it on their surface to stimulate immune response. your second shot is the same mRNA, with the same process, but its designed to boost that immune response by stimulating it a month or so after original exposure. --- Taarsidath-an halsaam. people vaccinated can act as short term carriers of the virus :(. glad i know this now. i should get vaccinated the same time as my roommate just to be safe. which means i'll have to wait for the general public he doesn't have any underlying conditions that make it high risk (other than the smoking thing). --- Explorers In The Further Regions Of Experience, demons to some, Angels To Others: Pinhead ...
