At some point its not worth the labor.

The price to buy is probably close to the repair cost. If anything, the dude could of tried taking advantage of you and didn't

That's how I feel after taking my pc for repair and finding out the gpu is at fault and I have to get a new one. $60 diagnostic fee when I already knew the graphics card was the issue. I thought he could at least tell me what the hell went wrong with it.

Maybe it's because the fucking billionaire corporation lobbyists are in the government's pocket so when right to repair bills are brought up that would force them to stop making it so it's impossible for anyone but the manufacturers to repair anything and they're going to charge more to repair it than to sell you a new one because fuck you, it's not like you can do anything about it because goddamn rampant unchecked capitalism fucking goddamn shit America

5 years for tvs is a pretty big gap.
The norm back then was 1080p.
Now it's 4k.

It's probably cheaper to buy a brand new TV than to repair a 5 year old one.

It's usually a capacitor (or two) that needs replacing and the labor cost might not be worth it to you. It would be common sense to pawn it off on someone who can then repair it and reap the rewards of owning/selling a functional TV.

Products are so cheap that it's usually not worth it to get it fixed unless you know how to do it yourself. To get it done professionally, you'd be paying around the same or possibly more than if you simply replaced the TV. On top of that, by replacing the TV, you get a nice upgrade. We live in a disposable world.
